When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 545

Lemira frowned slightly. What could Ms. Sinclair want to discuss with her?

After a moment of contemplation, she decided to head over to the office.

She poured Sophia a glass of water. "I'm afraid I don't have much to offer in terms of hospitality, Ms. Sinclair."

"Please, call me Sophia. And no need to be so cautious; I'm here to propose a collaboration."

"A collaboration?"

Lemira remained wary. She remembered the recent fallout with the Sinclair family and doubted Sophia was unaware of it. There had been rumors about the failed engagement between the Everhart and Sinclair families. Susanna had been keeping a low profile lately.

"Yes, the Sinclair family has been sponsoring the Orvin University Base for years, always in close partnership. You've probably seen the returns on those investments. I wanted to invite you to join us."

Investing? The previous team leader had joined forces with the Sinclairs for what seemed like a high-end investment, but it was really just a money-laundering scheme for them.

"I'm not interested in investments. I don't think we can work together," Lemira replied.

"Don't be so quick to refuse. I've heard you have an Aurora Trust, and my proposal is related to that. I know your recent event didn't go well, and everyone's saying you're just in it for the money."

Lemira bristled. "That trust was founded by my parents for charity. It's not a money-making scheme."

"I understand, but public opinion can be harsh. I’m organizing a joint event with Aurora Trust for one-on-one sponsorships for girls in need. Your participation could really benefit your foundation."

"Why are you coming to me with this?" Lemira asked.

"Because the Orvin University Base has always participated in charitable events, and I've always been the organizer."

Lemira got it. "Alright, I'll participate."
