Debby, being well-connected in the PR industry, definitely knew all these public figures.
Lemira remembered the last time she was about to hold a press conference, and suddenly Asher stopped her. She might have mentioned something about the press conference in the dorm before.
Could it be that Stella had tipped him off?
Lemira asked, "Do you know anything about this Stella?"
"Not much, honestly. She rarely makes public appearances or joins any events. But Ms. Waverly’s background is quite tragic. After her mother passed away, she got a stepmother and eventually a stepdad. Although the stepmom treated Ms. Waverly well, it’s never the same as having your real mom."
"Why do you say that?"
"I heard Stella has some leg issues, making her quite reclusive and not very talkative. Her stepmom kept Stella hidden away and later arranged a marriage for her. I thought it was a good match, but then it turned out to be Asher, who’s not exactly a catch, especially at his age."
Debby had done her homework on the Langston family while working for Lemira, so she was well aware of Asher's reputation.
Lemira nodded, "I didn’t expect it either. Stella is in my dorm, and she probably overheard me and tipped Asher off about the press conference."
"She’s in your dorm? Looks like the Waverlies were trying to orchestrate some interaction between you two. Didn’t expect you to fall out with your family so badly."
Lemira had thought of that too.
But she and Stella had hardly any interaction. Stella was practically invisible in the dorm, rarely speaking and almost never leaving except for classes. Her meals were delivered to her.
Lemira had always wondered why someone from such a wealthy family would stay in the dorm.
Now it all made sense.
"Ms. Langston, you better be careful about what you say in the dorm from now on."
"I know."
Lemira watched as Asher and Stella walked into the restaurant together, probably to have a meal.
It seemed Asher was trying to patch things up with the Waverlies to deal with Evelina's mess.
After leaving the café, Lemira headed straight to the school's esports team facility to oversee the team's training.
Everyone was progressing quickly, she noted as she watched them practice.
