A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 15

The sound of colleagues' voices—murmurs, questions, speculation—rippled in from outside.

Winona paused for just a moment, then composed herself as if nothing had happened. She didn't rush out, nor did she show the slightest sign of panic. Calmly, she poured herself another glass of juice, then walked out of the break room with the glass in hand.

As she emerged, all eyes in the executive suite gravitated to her before quickly darting away again, their faces betraying varying degrees of curiosity and gossip. After all, just moments ago, only Winona and Celia had been in that break room.

Celia had suddenly let out a piercing scream and then came bursting out, her face covered in coffee.

The scene was ripe for speculation. Celia had just snatched away a project that Secretary Thorne—Winona—had been managing for weeks. It was understandable for Secretary Thorne to be angry, but to throw coffee on someone at work, and so brazenly...

Winona didn't see any sign of Celia now. Clearly, Celia was in Tyson's office, complaining.

As soon as that thought crossed her mind, the office door swung open. Tyson strode out, his face thunderous with anger. When he saw Winona, his glare sharpened.

"In my office. Now," he snapped.

Winona took a few steps forward and stopped, her posture unyielding. "There's no need to go into the office. Whatever you have to say, you can say it here. In front of everyone."

"Secretary Thorne!" Tyson all but spat out her name between clenched teeth.

She'd gone too far. He had wanted to spare her the embarrassment by speaking privately, but she refused?

Celia emerged from the office behind him, dabbing her face with a wet tissue, her expression wounded and meek. "Tyson... Mr. Goodwin, please don't be angry. I'm sure Secretary Thorne didn't mean it. The coffee was hot, but I'm fine, really. Let's just forget about it."

"Hot coffee, and she dared to throw it in your face?" Tyson's voice was low and icy, his eyes filled with concern as he looked at Celia.

Celia kept her head bowed, but the faintest hint of a smirk played at her lips. She'd stood face to face with Winona for quite a while; the coffee had cooled by then—she was well aware of that, which was why she'd dared to go through with it.

"Secretary Thorne, I don't care what your grievances are, you shouldn't be resorting to this kind of behavior at work," Tyson said coldly. "Apologize to Celia."

Winona walked toward them in silence.

Celia's gaze followed her, triumphant. She wanted Winona to see just how much Tyson cared about her. No matter what Winona said in her defense, Tyson would never believe her.

But what Celia never expected was what happened next.

Winona didn't utter a word. She simply raised her hand and, without hesitation, threw the entire glass of juice straight into Celia's face.

Celia stood there, stunned.
