Winona's eyes landed on the words "GO TO HELL" glaring from her phone screen, her brows knitting together in a frown.
The username was brazen, dripping with undisguised malice. Coupled with the post's obvious attempt to stir things up, it was clear this wasn't just some random internet troll blowing off steam.
But soon enough, the post vanished.
She refreshed the page several times to be sure, but it was really gone. Not only that—all the comments and threads sparked by the post had disappeared without a trace, as if they'd never existed.
She looked up at Elvis, who was sitting across from her at the table.
He was staring at his phone too, his face expressionless, but there was a chill in his eyes.
"You saw the trending topic? And that post?" she asked quietly. "Did you have it taken down?"
He nodded. "Yeah. Just now. The comments section had already started mentioning your name."
It was hard to tell if someone had recognized her by accident or if they were deliberately trying to drag her into this. Either way, they couldn't let things spiral out of control.
After all, Jonah was a minor celebrity in his own right.
If this kept up, people would put two and two together and realize he had feelings for his older cousin's fiancée. There was no telling how the gossip would snowball then.
Elvis himself didn't care much for rumors, but he'd be damned if he let Winona get hurt by them.
Winona rubbed her temples with a sigh, frustration written on her face.
"Don't let it get to you," Elvis said gently.
"I'm fine," she replied, though her tone was weary. "I just can't believe someone would stoop to this. Who has so much time on their hands to pull a childish stunt like that?"
They still didn't know who was behind the post, but for them, tracing an IP address wouldn't be difficult.
She was about to pick up her fork and continue eating when her phone rang. The caller ID showed an unknown number, but something told her she should answer. She hesitated, then picked up.
