A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 212

She was his sister—his real sister, born of the same father and mother.

So in his eyes, was the son of some mistress really more important than she was?

Jocelyn forced down the panic rising in her chest, a hint of sardonic amusement curling at her lips. “Fine, I’ll go get some rest,” she said, her voice cool. “But if Jude dies, you’d better be the first to tell me, big brother.”

With that, she turned and walked away.

Jackson watched her retreating figure, his gaze darkening by degrees.

He could sense it—something was seriously off with Jocelyn.

Could it really be as Jude said? Was the person she wanted dead actually…

Jocelyn, you wouldn’t be that foolish, would you?

Winona had planned on enjoying a day out with Elvis now that the conference was finally over. But when she woke up in the morning, she was greeted by the sound of pouring rain lashing against the windows.

Clearly, today wasn’t the best day for an outing.

“The weather forecast here is hopeless,” she complained to Elvis over breakfast. “Last night it said there’d be no rain, and now look at it.”

Elvis smiled, trying to cheer her up. “Not much we can do about it. If you really want to go out, we could find something fun to do indoors.”

Winona considered it, then shook her head. “Forget it. Let’s just stay in.”

“Alright.”

After breakfast, the two of them settled onto the living room couch. Winona sprawled out with her head in Elvis’s lap, scrolling through her phone, while Elvis…just watched her.

Maybe his gaze was a little too intense, because Winona, who’d been entirely absorbed in her screen, suddenly became aware of it. She looked up and met his eyes.

“Why do you keep staring at me?” she asked, reaching up to cover his eyes with her hand.

Elvis caught her hand in his, his smile gentle. “I just like looking at you.”
