A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 214

“Tyson’s got way too much time on his hands. Find something to keep him busy.”

As Elvis spoke, his eyes were ice-cold, every syllable edged with warning.

But the moment he returned to Winona’s side, he was once again the gentle, doting Elvis she knew so well.

“I’ve already had someone get everything ready. They’ll bring it in soon.”

“Okay.”

The thought of watching a horror movie with Elvis sent an inexplicable thrill through Winona. Sure, some of the movies they’d watched together before had suspenseful or creepy moments, but this was the real deal—a bona fide horror flick. It was a whole different level.

Elvis hadn’t seen it yet, so she queued it up from the beginning. She didn’t mind watching the first part again; after all, watching it together had to be a different experience than watching it alone.

A housekeeper soon arrived with a tray of fresh fruit and snacks, setting it down before quietly slipping out.

The movie’s opening wasn’t scary at all—just some everyday scenes. Winona relaxed, munching on snacks as she watched. But it didn’t take long for the story to plunge into darkness.

Even though she’d already seen these scenes before, her heart still tightened as the tension mounted. Almost unconsciously, she edged closer to Elvis.

A faint smile played at the corner of his mouth. He slipped an arm around her shoulders, but Winona was too engrossed in the film to notice. Inch by inch, she found herself nestled in the crook of his arm.

As the movie eased back into a quieter, less frightening scene, Winona let out a deep breath, her entire body relaxing.

Elvis picked up a strawberry from the platter and held it to her lips. “If you’re this scared, why do you like watching these?”

She took the strawberry from his hand and grinned. “That’s the point—the rush, the suspense. It’s exciting!”
