"But Miss Penny, shouldn’t you wait till our master is out again before giving him the drugs?" Hughes asked.
It was because, that was their master’s lair, no one dared enter especially if he was in a foul mood like now. But Penny waved her warnings off.
Even if she had decided to believe Osvaldo was mad, she still wasn’t convinced enough. He had spoken to her normally, threatened and for Ed her to suck his dick.
No insane person would be able to do that. So what the hell was going on?
Or was he mad in the day and sane at night?
But that is humanely impossible. There was no madness like that. She was a doctor, a top researcher, and never in her life had she discovered anything like this.
But Osvaldo had hit her so hard yesterday. The same man who had protected her last night had been the same person to hurt her the morning before.
Penny’s step was quiet as she walked through the halls. This was a penthouse but the inside looked like a huge mansion with so many turns. She had no idea whose idea this was when it came to the Interior of the house, but it was beautiful.
If only it was decorated. She was so sure it would be better than the Adkins main mansion.
As she walked, she wondered where Osvaldo had gone to. What games was he playing this time?
How did his wound get bandages without her if there was no other doctor in the mansion with them? Penny had a lot of questions but didn’t know the right person to ask.
The further she walked, she stumbled open a strange door with a bold red sticker saying.
STAY OUT!
Her body prickled with a warning, but her curiosity burned hotter.
It’s probably a trap, she told herself. But so what? If I die, at least I’ll know the truth.
She tightened her grip on the small bottle of drugs in her hand, her face set with determination. Slowly, she pushed the door open and stepped inside.
She shut her eyes tight, expecting pain, death, something.
But nothing happened.
Instead, she heard the faint clink-clink of glass. She cracked one eye open.
Her jaw dropped.
Before her was a massive room filled with over 500 scientific experiments. Some she recognized. Many she didn’t.
What... the hell... is this?
Beakers. Labeled flasks. Cooling chambers. Storage fridges. Pills. Powders. Glowing liquids.
A lab. A real lab. Hidden inside the penthouse. There were hidden creatures in glass jars, creatures of different forms and kinds.
Not just any lab either, this was state-of-the-art. The kind of lab top institutions would kill for. It had answers the world hadn’t even thought to ask yet.
Was this... Osvaldo’s?
She turned slowly in place, stunned and wide-eyed. Her heart raced.
Is this his lab?
Who the hell is this man?
Just then, she heard the sound of footsteps—and then humming. Out from a side room, Osvaldo strolled in, clicking two glass flasks together like toys. His smile was wide. Carefree. Childlike.
He looked nothing like the type of man who could build something like this. He looked like a boy playing dress-up.
