"What have you done Penelope? You have killed them." Abby accused Penny immediately. She had expected walking in here to Penny being ruined to no return, not her killing the two servants she sent after her.
What the hell is going on? This is not how she had planned her morning. Penny should be ruined in bed and be shamed for being a whore. Osvaldo should not be seated beside her, they should not be together.
Abby panicked immediately, she had just told a huge lie about Penny, and this was not a good look on her image. Especially before the Adkin’s lawyers.
While she panicked, standing next to his wife, Chris smiled stylishly. Seeing that Penny was still untouched relieved him. Here he thought she was ruined. He couldn’t believe he was already disgusted by her without actually finding out the truth.
He felt ashamed of himself. But he didn’t think too much. This was the game of life. One doesn’t have to think with their heart but their heads. If he thinks with his heart even for a moment, then he would be ruined.
That is what his mother always told him while growing up.
"Unfortunately, I did nothing to them," Penny said boldly. If what Osvaldo said was true, then Abby and her family had really set her up this time.
What if Osvaldo was not with her?
These men would have had their way with her. They would have ruined her. Penny couldn’t believe she scolded Osvaldo who had only tried to protect her. Osvaldo was right, these men deserve nothing but death for what they did to her.
"This is a sacred house Penny, how can you kill people in here?" Ariana spoke out glaring at her sister. She too could not believe her effort to steal Penny’s position as Lady Adkins was now in vain.
Their servants have failed to ruin Penny, and worse of all, Osvaldo was with her. How will the lawyers believe them now?
"I’m not speaking gibberish, Ariana." Penny said. "Those men are lucky I didn’t deal with them myself. If I had, no one would’ve found their bodies."
She was done being kind. Every chance she gave them had only led to betrayal. Now, they would learn who they were really dealing with.
"What really happened, Miss Penny?" Timothy asked, brows drawn together. He felt like a fool. Again. He had believed Abby. He had let this circus continue for too long.
They were all fed up by the unnecessary drama and fight all the time. The one with the golden contract is meant to be the most respected one, but they had no idea why their new lady Adkins wanted to hide that. She was Osvaldo’s wife for crying out loud.
The richest woman in all of Owlsgrave, yet wants to hide that identity.
"Why are you not in the Penthouse?" Willy asked.
"Because my mother-in-law wanted to try something new," Penny replied coolly. "She wanted to replace me."
The lawyers exchanged uneasy glances. No one messed with an Adkins like this and got away with it.
