“Does your boyfriend not mind you spending the night at Ethan’s place? Anything could happen when people of the opposite sex are in a room,” Thomas asked.

“Not at all. Like I said, he’s big-hearted.”

Thomas snorted. He placed the album back on the coffee table. Standing up, he walked over to Lena. “Is your boyfriend that big-hearted? He either doesn’t love you, or he’s good at covering it up.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” She frowned.

“A man is never that ‘big-hearted’. Be mindful of what kind of men you date.”

As he spoke, he noticed water droplets falling from her damp hair. So, he took the towel from

her hands and dried her hair with it.

Lena froze. His action reminded her of when they’d still been together. He used to dry her hair

for her back then too.

But things had changed. The action that used to bring her joy in the past only made her feel awkward now.

“Don’t trouble yourself.” She stepped back and shook her damp hair. “I’ll use the hairdryer later. Just say what you wanted to say.”

Brows furrowed, he asked, “Are you really not into Ethan?”

“Good heavens, not at all!” she immediately clarified, determined to clear the

misunderstanding right away.

He squinted with displeasure. “Why do you trust him so much? Do you think you know him very well?”

“I don’t know Ethan well. So, I can’t say I trust him, but I certainly trust Chloe. He’s Chloe’s close friend. They’re almost like siblings. If she trusts him, he must be a pretty genuine person.

love?”

Lena found his words rather outrageous. “Have you forgotten what you said to your friends in that private room years ago?”

“What do you mean?” He fixed a sharp gaze on her face.

“You told your friends that I was just a way for you to kill time. I happened to overhear you. That’s why I refused to remain your little plaything,” she said, revealing the truth.

Thomas’ body immediately stiffened, and the color drained from his face.

“D-Did you hear that?” Momentarily confused, he felt his heart pounding against his chest.

“Yeah, I overheard you. You definitely taught me a life lesson. I learned that men can indeed sleep with women they aren’t interested in,” she replied with a self-deprecating smile.
