Adrian Wants to Break Off the Engagement
Having spent decades in the cutthroat world of business, Antonio had met all sorts. He admired people like Annelise, who knew exactly what they wanted and what they needed to do.
She was young, yet her clarity of purpose was rare. He believed that even without the Caldwell family’s backing, she’d carve her own path to greatness.
“Tell me what you ate this morning and any medications you’ve taken,” Annelise said, her tone all business. “I need to review your diet and prescriptions before we begin.”
Antonio, not one for keeping track of such details, called for Freddy, the hospital’s attending doctor.
Freddy had been itching for a chance to observe Annelise’s methods and jumped at the opportunity.
After reviewing the records, Annelise began the treatment. Her hands moved with uncanny precision, as if she could map every reflex point in the human body by touch alone.
At first, Antonio didn’t think much of it. But as her specialized tools made contact, a cool, refreshing sensation surged through him, rising from his core.
As the treatment progressed, he felt lighter, as if a heavy weight had been lifted. His chest opened up, breathing easi- er, and the nagging, dull ache that had plagued him vanished like a miracle.
Antonio looked up, stunned.
However, Adrian watched them with a calm, almost expectant expression, as if he’d seen this before.
Freddy, assisting nearby, was practically glowing with awe.
His eyes sparkled with admiration, as if he wanted to dissect Annelise’s technique for a research paper.
Annelise adjusted her tools, her voice steady and composed. “Sir Caldwell, you’ll need to take better care of yourself. Cut back on the smoking and eat more vegetables.”
