Chapter 48
Just then, the sound of heavy footsteps came from outside the courtyard.
Lenny, who hadn’t been seen all day, walked through the door carrying a cloth sack on his shoulder.
He seemed surprised to see so many people at home, his small frame freezing for a moment as his eyes found An- nelise.
Annelise raised an eyebrow. “You’re back?
Grandma’s been asking about you all afternoon. Go eat first.”
Lenny gave a simple “Mmm” and headed inside.
Dr. Pennington saw the boy carrying such a large sack by himself and wanted to help. “That must be heavy, right?
Let me help you… get that!”
He said the word “get” with extra force!
The veins on his neck bulged, but he still couldn’t lift the sack!
“This… is not light, huh.’
Dr. Pennington said awkwardly, and refusing to give up, tried again, this time with both hands, gritting his teeth!
Lenny just watched him quietly, not moving.
Dr. Pennington gave up, his arms dropping as he panted, “Seriously, what did you put in here? It’s so heavy.”
Are kids really this strong nowadays?
Annelise walked over, lifted the sack with one hand, and tossed it into the storage room. “There.”
Her casual manner, as if she were just tossing out a small bag of trash…
Dr. Pennington ‘s mind was blown!
“I… this…”
Am I really that weak?
Madam Whitman laughed loudly. “Lenny was born strong, and Annelise likes to box in her spare time. See, there’s a punching bag over there.”
Dr. Pennington gave a hollow laugh. The little Miracle Doctor’s hobbies were certainly unique!

Chapter 48
Adrian didn’t say a word. He just sat at the stone table, the cuffs of his sleeves slightly rolled up, spinning a teacup with his fingertips. His eyes held a deep, probing look, and his cold, aloof aura added a sense of pressure to the tradi- tional courtyard residence.
Lenny noticed him immediately and gestured with his hands: Who is he?
Annelise, taking advantage of the old lady going inside to cut fruit, replied, “A patient.”
Lenny looked at Adrian again.
The man’s features were sharp and cold. He wore a string of rosary beads on his wrist, appearing pure and untouched, but his eyes revealed an untamable wildness.
He didn’t like this person. He felt a sense of familiarity, yet couldn’t see through him.
Lenny gestured emphatically with his hands to convey his strong feeling.
Annelise said casually, “He pays well.”
With just that one sentence, Lenny stopped gesturing. He served tea with impeccable hospitality, and also placed a QR code on the stone table.
Adrian raised an eyebrow playfully, his voice low and pleasant. “Blaine, take out the card. The little Miracle Doctor should accept it this time.”
“I’ve earned it.”
Annelise smiled, completely open about it.
Dr. Pennington watched in admiration. This whole routine… didn’t it seem a bit like a scam operation?
But… can the little Miracle Doctor’s brother not speak?
Dr. Pennington looked at Lenny with pity.
Lenny took the card, blew on it first, then tucked it away like a treasure in an inner pocket. Seeing Dr. Pennington looking at him, he raised his hands and gestured, And you?
How are you paying?
“He’s not a customer. He’s the doctor from the clinic across the street.”
Annelise said, not caring much.
Lenny raised his small eyebrows. Oh, a competitor. Not worthy of tea!
Dr. Pennington stared, stunned, as his tea set was taken away…
Fortunately, with Madam Whitman keeping him in line, Lenny behaved.
