Chapter 6 No Ordinary Kid
Benjamin, who always turned his nose up at the common folks, didn’t notice the change in Annelise’s eyes.
Her gaze was bold, defiant, and merciless!
She casually fiddled with a candy, then flicked it with force.
Benjamin’s knees gave way.
He dropped to the ground.
“Ouch!” The agonizing pain twisted his face instantly.
Benjamin struggled to get up, but he was completely paralyzed.
He couldn’t utter a sound or move his hand.
It felt like he was petrified by a gorgon.
Annelise strutted toward him, her voice indifferent. “As a med student, how can you jump to conclusions without doing the basic examinations? Being a doctor doesn’t make you above anyone. Your job is to save lives and heal patients. However, your skills are lacking, and your ethics are worse. Now, I accept your kneeling as an apology and help clear Prof. Kendrick’s name.”
“Damn you!” Benjamin’s eyes flashed with hatred.
Annelise leaned forward and whispered to his ear, “Since you’re as stubborn as a mule, I guess it won’t hurt to let you kneel on the streets for a couple of hours.
“What witchcraft is this?” Benjamin shouted. “Call the police! She attacked me!”
Annelise smiled faintly. “Who can prove it? Benjamin, you chose to kneel of your own volition. I didn’t push you.”
“Yeah. He deserved it!”
The crowd watched, hearts brimming with delight.

At first, he deigned to help the boy. And when the girl saved the body, he was the one making sarcastic remarks.
He insulted the common folks and was too proud to apologize. He was unworthy of being a
doctor.
Did he think they were pushovers? And he had the audacity to frame the little girl?
The woman shouted for all to hear, “Come! Take a look! The med student from Brookford University of Medicine is kneeling to apologize because of his incompetence!”
“You bastards!” Benjamin’s face flushed red. He couldn’t draw a proper breath.
What they said was true! Never mess with the people at Sunveil District.
Benjamin should’ve known where he was before he shot his mouth off.
As more people stared, Benjamin’s head dipped deeper. He wished he could crawl into a hole, lest someone recognize him.
He shot Annelise a glare.
Since they were from the same circle, this doctor of traditional medicine wouldn’t get far. He swore that the next time he met her, he would give her a taste of her own medicine!
Annelise averted her eyes. If there were a next time, she wouldn’t mind breaking his legs.
Quite a few people wanted to get Annelise’s number. Having witnessed her remarkable skills firsthand, they couldn’t resist adding her!
Annelise didn’t refuse. She let them scan a QR code.
The woman praised, “Your skills are amazing! Do you come from a family of traditional medicine doctors?”
Annelise thought about her grandmother, who was the only nice person in the Whitman family. So, she gave a cautious reply, “Yes, my grandma studied traditional medicine. She has a small wellness clinic.”

“Thank you!” Annelise expressed her gratitude humbly without an air of arrogance. She was
