Chapter 312
Rebecca glanced at Mark in the passenger seat. “Mark won’t let anything happen to me.”
Tom’s eyes flashed with surprise.
Mark instantly brightened up, feeling a rush of satisfaction.

So in the end, it’s me she’s most concerned about,’ Mark thought to himself, a hint of pride in his heart.
“Rest assured, Ms. Jensen. No matter what comes our way, I’ll make sure you’re safe,” Mark said, his voice calm and professional. “I won’t give Tom the slightest chance to pull anything.”
“Mm,” Rebecca replied, her trust in him clear.
“So you really do trust him,” Tom said, his tone hard to read.
Mark shot him a look.
Tom’s expression didn’t change at all; he was still as laid–back as ever.
“You can trust me just like you trust him,” Tom said, one hand steady on the wheel. “I could tell those two were working with that guy because my observation skills and instincts are top–tier.”
Rebecca glanced at Mark.
Mark knows Tom a lot better than she does; after all, he’s the one who’s spent the most time around him.
“I don’t buy the first part, but the second part checks out,” Mark said.
“Go on,” Rebecca said to Tom.
“I’ve got a pretty good idea of what kind of person you are after these last couple months.” Tom explained. “When that guy rushed you, I could tell right away it was all an act–a setup to mess with you. Stunts like that always need some extras to hype things up, otherwise security would just treat him like a lunatic and throw him out.”
Rebecca paused to think.
I’ll give him that–it does make sense,‘ Rebecca admitted inwardly.
“So how did you know it was those two women in particular?” Rebecca asked.
There must’ve been at least twenty, maybe thirty people in the crowd. To lock onto the right pair so fast wasn’t something just anyone could pull off.
“Not gonna lie, I’m pretty good at reading microexpressions and psychology,” Tom said with a grin, glancing up at the rearview mirror. “Ms. Jensen, doesn’t that score me some extra points? Maybe even a little raise?”
Mark blinked in disbelief. ‘Seriously?‘

Chapter 312
Mark cut in before Rebecca could say a word. “No way.”
Tom shot back. “You’re cashing three paychecks–why can’t I get a little bump?”
Mark stayed dead serious. “I’m doing three people’s work.”
Tom practically jumped out of his seat. “Wait, you’re really getting paid three times over?!”
Mark just gave him a long, silent look.

Tom wasn’t letting up. “Ms. Jensen, I want triple pay too! Let me be your personal psychological consultant and secretary. Anyone you’re curious about, just ask–I’ll analyze their whole mindset for you!”
Rebecca stayed silent.
She fell deep into thought.
Whether it was Mark or Tom, both were incredibly talented in every aspect. Rebecca couldn’t stop herself from wondering–how did she luck into having two guys like them watching over her as bodyguards?
With that thought in mind, as soon as she got home, she asked the security company for their full files.
They were both official hires from the security firm, and it wasn’t that she was being paranoid–she honestly felt like her luck was almost too good, somehow picking up two total gems as soon as she started looking.
“Ms. Jensen,” Tom called out suddenly.
Rebecca glanced up. “Mm?”
Tom straightened up, dropping the playful vibe. “From now on, you should take both of us with you. whenever you go out. If they’re already coming at you like this, you can bet they’ve got even more extreme moves waiting in the wings.”
“I know,” Rebecca replied.
‘Ever since that night at the party, I’ve been bracing myself for whatever was coming,‘ Rebecca thought.
Whether it was Peter or Michael, neither of them was about to let her easily buy back the shares that originally belonged to her mom. At first, maybe they held off out of respect for Mr. Quinn’s authority, but now that her chances are looking up, you can bet they’ll start plotting.
The man showing up was just the beginning.
It was barely even a warning–more like a subtle nudge that trouble was coming.
Rebecca’s hunch matched exactly what Liam and Michael had in mind. As long as she was smart enough to back off from reclaiming those shares, they’d leave her be and probably send a little cash her way every year.
But if she ignored their warning, they wouldn’t hesitate to switch to tougher tactics.
And sure enough, that’s exactly what happened.

As evening rolled in, Liam called to check on the situation.
But the news he got was anything but good.
“You guys messed up something this easy?” Liam snapped, frustration clear in his voice. “Seriously, what’s the point of having you?”
“I went out of my way to make sure everything was airtight,” the guy on the other end complained, all aggrieved. “How was I supposed to know that some guy hanging around Rebecca would suddenly jump in and pretend to be our own man? That’s what ended up messing everything up.”
Liam fell silent, lost in thought.
Not even his own people could respond that fast, but somehow Rebecca had someone who could.
‘Could this be Amelia’s setup? Or maybe Ryan or Jeffrey behind it?‘ Liam wondered, suspicion flickering in his
eyes.
“I’ll go rework the whole plan right now,” the guy hurried to say, getting nervous from Liam’s silence. “This time I’ll spell it out for them–no way I’ll let something like this slip again.”
“No need,” Liam replied, already forming a new plan in his mind.
The guy on the other end sounded nervous. “Please, Liam, don’t worry–I promise this time I’ll get it done right.”
Without another word, Liam hung up. He’d already tipped his hand once; if he pushed again now, it would only give Rebecca a chance to catch him red–handed. She wasn’t dumb–after the first attempt, she’d definitely be on guard.
With that weighing on his mind, Liam grabbed his phone and called his dad.
The moment the call connected, Liam didn’t bother with small talk. “So, have you made up your mind about what we discussed? Today’s stunt was a bust–Rebecca was way more prepared than we thought. She threw us for a loop.”
Michael didn’t say a word. Silence.
Liam pushed, “You really need to decide–now.”
