Lucius remained silent.
Caelus used the remote control to shift Sonia over once again. “Both of these women are beautiful in their own way. I wouldn’t know who to choose if it were up to me, so why don’t we choose with our eyes closed?”
Caleus chuckled loudly before closing his eyes to decide whether Sonia or Valerie would die.
When Sonia was being turned to face the sea, she suddenly cried out, “Mr. White, I’ve located that person you wanted me to find!”
“Wait.” Lucius‘ expression shifted just the slightest.
Valerie, who was just about to be turned back to the deck, was now being turned to face the sea again because of what Lucius just said.
Caelus seemed to have uncovered something interesting. “Who knew this woman would be your true love, Lucius?”
Lucius wanted to say that that wasn’t the case, but at that moment, he happened to see the bitter disdain in Valerie’s eyes at the same time.
It was disdain, wasn’t it? That look in her eyes had disappeared so swiftly that Lucius hadn’t
had a chance to examine further.
But Caelus didn’t care. “Since you’ve made your choice, I’ll let you live with it.”
Caelus then held up a handgun and pointed it right at Valerie’s forehead.
Lucius couldn’t restrain his panic. “Don’t hurt her!”
Something shiny had suddenly appeared in Valerie’s hand while Caelus raised the gun at her. She beamed it in Caelus‘ eyes with the help of light reflected from the sea.
Caelus‘ shot missed just the slightest due to the sudden glare in his eyes. The bullet shot through Sonia’s rope, making her fall onto the ship’s deck.
Another bullet was then fired at Valerie. She flung herself forward, causing the bullet to hit the ropes binding her. Valerie then gently fell on deck.
This series of movements happened incredibly smoothly in the blink of an eye.
Lucius was astonished to see that Valerie had already freed herself from the ropes that had been restraining her wrists. He hurried over to her side and stood protectively beside her. “Are you hurt?”

Only then did Caelus realize the truth. “So, this is the woman you actually care about, Lucius.”
What shocked Caelus more was that Lucius was able to walk. Did that mean that Lucius had just been faking the weakness in his legs earlier?
Caelus was about to shoot him again when a group of people hurried over to the deck. It was Silas and the rest of Lucius‘ bodyguards. They swiftly restrained and incapacitated all of Caelus
‘men.
Caelus retreated as he raised his handgun again. “How are you all still standing?”
Lucius kept Valerie tucked safely behind him. “I noticed you were on board when you started drugging everyone.”
Aaron Stutton, one of the leaders of Southeast Laysia’s most powerful circles, always gave Lucius reliable information. He was the foreigner Lucius had been conversing with in Mankriti earlier. Aaron had informed Lucius that there was a “rat” on the ship earlier, warning him to
be careful.
Lucius hadn’t known who this rat was, hence he’d played along with the latter’s plan. One not only had to be wise to sniff out a rat, but they also had to be patient.
Caelus was deeply shocked. “That’s impossible!”
He had planned this scheme for so long, so he wasn’t going to admit that Lucius had anticipated everything he’d do at this point.
