Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 130

Hearing what the police said, Giselle froze.

Over a year of intimacy between Donovan and her had been nothing to him. He'd only seen her as a sexual partner, far from a lover.

Even though that was the truth and they'd already fallen out long ago, hearing him describe their relationship as nothing more than a physical one still stirred something in her.

She had wanted to argue with the police. But remembering the Kane family's powerful connections, she realized that no matter how much she argued, she'd only be on the losing end.

Not wanting to get involved with Donovan anymore, she signed the papers without hesitation and left the station.

After spending three days in detention, Donovan was finally back in his villa. But he was in no mood to work. A wave of emptiness crushed him, and later that night, he drank himself into a stupor again.

He sobered up the next afternoon and decided to visit Zachary at the hospital.

When he reached the ward, he didn't go in. Instead, he peered inside and saw Zachary was already out of bed. He was leaning on crutches, working hard to practice walking.

After nearly two months of care from a top-tier medical team, Zachary's injuries still hadn't healed. He could eat normally and barely manage a few steps out of bed, but for him to fully turn to the lively, unscathed young man he had once been, it would likely take more than six months.
