Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 224

Gideon couldn't retort to Donovan. He just slumped on the couch.

Indeed, it was all his fault that Giselle was dragged into this mess.

If he hadn't made such powerful enemies, publicly announced their wedding, or they hadn't been seen together every day, his enemies wouldn't have noticed her. If he had been more attentive and stayed with her more often, they never would have had the chance to take her.

If he had never met her at all, she would be living in peace. She never had to experience what it felt like to be kidnapped.

Thinking about it made Gideon seethe with regret. He buried his head in his hands, fingers clawing at his hair, desperately trying to think of a way to save her.

Giselle had been missing for nearly 24 hours. Every passing minute meant great danger, and there was no more time to wait. He had no time left to think either.

He sent another message to the kidnapper.

"I'll trade myself for her. Tell me the time and place. As long as you let her go, I'm yours to deal with however you want. If you want my legs, my arms, all my organs—they're yours."

He waited a long time again, but there was still no reply.

Spiraling in frustration, Gideon no longer wanted to waste any more time. He sprang to his feet and swerved toward Donovan.

"This is my fault, so I'll handle it on my own. Stay out of it and remember not to call the police. I'll use my ways to rescue her as soon as possible!"

With that, he stormed out of Donovan's office.

Donovan had observed in silence while puffing on his cigarette, seemingly lost in thought. He might appear calm, but deep down, he was just as anxious as Gideon.
