In the end, Anne was forced to kneel on the bridge, muttering a jumble of apologies to Giselle. She couldn't even last an hour before her knees were bruised and her body swayed, struggling to stay upright.
Gideon took in her condition, but he couldn't bring himself to kick her off the bridge. She was just a woman. No matter how hard he punished her, killing her wouldn't bring Giselle back. Nothing ever would.
Even after all this, the fury in his chest hadn't eased in the slightest.
Ultimately, he decided she wasn't worth another second of his time. He left her there on the bridge, climbed into his car, and sped away into the night.

Half an hour later, Renee arrived with her driver and assistant.
"Mom…" Anne was so exhausted she couldn't even stand, tears streaming down her face.
"What happened?" Renee's anger flared when she noticed the blood at the corner of her mouth, her messy hair, and her disheveled clothes. Plus, she'd been left in the middle of nowhere.
"Let's talk in the car. Quick, give me some water! I feel like I'm about to die…"
