Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 259

"My parents must have called the cops. I don't even know if my boyfriend is safe, or if he was kidnapped as well," Susanna said, still holding out hope for the future. "The cops will definitely find this place, right?"

"I'm sure your parents are searching for you everywhere," Giselle responded, though she had to tell her the cruel truth. "But it was your boyfriend who sold you out. So, of course, he's fine."

"N-No. That can't be true." Susanna shook her head firmly. "He was so good to me. He loved me so much. There's no way he would do something like this to me. I don't believe it…"

"It doesn't matter if you believe it or not." Giselle didn't want to frighten her with how awful this place really was, so she tried to comfort her instead. "That's why, in this world, only your parents have your best interests at heart. The high school life you hate so much is paradise compared to this place."

After hearing that, Susanna broke down again. Through her tears, she choked out, "You're right. I regret it so much. If only I had listened to my mom… But it's too late now."

Because of the surveillance cameras, Giselle couldn't risk having any deep conversations with Susanna, let alone mention the word "escape". All she could do was act as if she'd accepted her fate.

"You'll suffer less if you follow their orders. Don't let your mind wander past that."

Noticing that Giselle was just as powerless, Susanna threw herself onto the bed, sobbing in despair.

In the days that followed, aside from carrying out her usual work, Giselle shifted her attention to Orin. She tried to find chances to be alone with him, hoping to get more information out of him.

Usually, Orin had a lot on his plate. Not only did he have to manage the brothel camp, but he also had other shady businesses. Still, he came by every day and grew more comfortable trusting her.
