After a moment's thought, Giselle realized the gravity of the situation. She had to notify the Kanes immediately.

Scrolling through her contacts, Zachary's WhatsApp was the only contact she had. Without hesitation, she tapped the video call button and reached out to the man she hadn't spoken to in ages.

"Hello?" Zachary was surprised to receive her call. His low voice softened as he spoke, "Giselle?"

"Zach, Donovan's in trouble," Giselle said, trembling. She tried to stay composed, but a faint sob broke through. "You need to get your family to the hospital. Now."

"What happened?" Zachary asked, his voice tense.

"He was in an accident. He's in emergency surgery now…" she replied.

"Send me the address!"

Giselle sent the address immediately. Within 20 minutes, several members of the Kane family rushed to the hospital.

They were met with the sight of Giselle, pale and shaken, sitting huddled in a corner. Meanwhile, behind the closed door of the ER, Donovan's fate hung in the balance.

Panic swept over the Kanes like wildfire. Dorothea, in particular, collapsed into a seat the moment she arrived and began weeping.

"Giselle," Zachary hurried to her first and asked, "How is Uncle Don? Is it bad? He's always been a steady driver, so how could he have gotten into an accident?"

Too drained to answer, Giselle simply told him to ask the police officer standing nearby. She had already given her statement.

The Kanes quickly gathered the details from the officer. Not only did they learn how the accident had happened, but also how grave Donovan's injuries were.
