Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 324

As Giselle held Donovan's hand, the chill in his palm seeped into her own skin. Instinctively, she tightened her grip, as if by holding on she could pass her own warmth to him with the heat of her touch.

In that moment, she nearly forgot every grudge between them. All she wanted was for him to stand again, to be whole and healthy once more.

Dorothea bristled at the sight and moved to stop her, but Ethan caught her arm. "Mom, Don's asleep. Let's keep quiet for now. If there's something to say, we can step outside."

Dorothea wasn't about to cause a scene in the hospital room. She held back, her gaze cold, and busied herself with the doctor, pressing for details about Donovan's condition.

When the time was up, they all left the emergency ward. Out in the corridor, Giselle spoke first, refusing to let Dorothea strike first. "Mrs. Kane, Mr. Kane, I plan to stay at the hospital and look after him for a few days. I hope you won't make this difficult."

Dorothea shot her a venomous glare. "Who gave you the right to call me 'Mrs. Kane'? From this moment on, get out! The farther you stay from him, the better. With a jinx like you hanging around, I can't sleep a single night in peace—not knowing what disaster you'll bring down on him next."

"I'm not leaving," Giselle answered, her tone calm but resolute. "Unless Donovan tells me himself to go, no one else can drive me away. If you really care about his recovery, then you should respect his wishes."

"You—" Dorothea nearly shook with rage, furious at the way she carried herself with that shameless, unbothered look, as if nothing in the world could touch her.

In all her years, she had never encountered a woman as brazen as Giselle—shameless, ungovernable, and without a shred of propriety. And yet, fate had given her a face that could bewitch any man, the allure of a temptress, and the audacity to match, and somehow she always found a way to survive.
