Chapter 58

With Donovan showered and doessed, aiselle decided to make her move, shedding her pride for a tender, purposeful hug from behind.

Reaching around to his front, she helped him fasten the buttons as she whispered, “Mr. Kane, as long as you fulfill my requests, I promise to serve you well and never go against your wishes again. Your word is final, and I’ll listen to you completely.”

Even as she spoke the honeyed words, she felt disgusted. But as long as it worked to get what she wanted, she didn’t mind playing the part.

Donovan, however, seemed to see right through her act. He gave her a cold glance but allowed her to finish buttoning his shirt.

When she was done, Giselle walked around to face him, wrapping her arms around his neck. In a gentle voice, she said, “I’m leaving now. But call me anytime you miss me. I’ll be here Easter than food delivery, just say the word.”

For a moment, Donovan caught the sweet look in her eyes. Strangely, it didn’t seem fake. After all the time they’d known each other, this was the first time she’d shown him such a gaze. Staring into her eyes, he was momentarily stunned.

Butiselle had already pulled away. She picked up her phone, slipped on her shoes, and headed for the door.

Just as she stepped outside, a thought struck her–she hadn’t bought a car yet. Getting a ride out of this wealthy, secluded neighborhood would be difficult. She turned back and called out, “Hey! I don’t have a ride. Since you’ve got so many cars in your garage, can I borrow one?”
