Patrick managed to catch her almost inaudible murmur, "Again? Don't you want to keep yourself posted with our dad's condition?"
"It's not what you think!" Amelia denied hurriedly, "It's just that..." Amelia could not possibly tell him that she just did not want to come with him.
Upon meeting Patrick's earnest look, she had no other choice but to keep her unfinished sentence to herself.
After all, he was just trying to be kind. Had she simply turned him down, it would only suggest that she was a cold-blooded person.
Having in mind that Patrick's effort towards washing dishes and cooking had not been consistent as he promised, she was convinced that he would not keep up this effort of visiting George for a long term persistently.
Most probably it was just an one-time effort when he acted on his impulse.
At the thought of this, a surge of indescribable feeling took charge of her.
She was not sure if she rather Patrick make changes or to have him remained as who he was now.
Had he successfully transformed himself into a good cook as well as someone caring, Sissi was going to be the one who benefited from his changes. Amelia could not help feeling irony at the thought of this.
Whenever she thought that she was going to surrender Patrick who had changed to become a better man to another woman, she was soon overwhelmed with stabbing pain in her heart that was wholly unbearable. After all, she had not forgotten the fact that Sissi was rumored as a frivolous woman.
To be honest, she had to admit that she never thought that Sissi and Patrick would make a good match. Precisely speaking, she did not think that Sissi was the right one for Patrick. Nevertheless, Amelia could do nothing to stop their reunion since it was Patrick who fell madly in love with that woman.
"What are you waiting for? Do you want me to get down from the car and carry you inside?" Amelia could tell that there was a hint of excitement traceable in his voice as he said this.
Gathering herself from her thought, Amelia replied calmly, "Thank you for your kindness. I'm good on my own."
Patrick's gaze darkened as soon as he heard her
'thank you'.
After opening the door, Amelia got into the car soon after. Just as she was about to shut the door, whoosh! Patrick approached her all in a sudden.
Amelia was taken aback by shock upon realizing that someone was breathing at her neck. She hurriedly turned around and reached out her hands to his sturdy chest in order to resist him from putting on his weight against her. At the very moment, she seemed to forget that she was supposed to close the door.
"What do you want?" She asked.
"We need to talk." He replied.
"Uh? But I don't think that we need to close up our distance to talk!" She made her point clear.
Smiling, he responded to her doubt, "But I think this is what we need the most. Otherwise, you always have your mind elsewhere when I'm talking."
She furrowed, "I promise that I'll be all ears next time as long as you stay away from me."
However, he acted as if he had not heard her promise. Instead, he changed the topic of conversation all in a sudden, "Mrs. Hopper, can you stop saying 'thank you' to me?"
"This is a matter of manners." Upon answering his question, Amelia thought of something as she added, "And also, unless we're in public, otherwise, can you stop addressing me as Mrs. Hopper?"
"Manners is also a sign of you trying to keep your distance away from others."
Pausing, Patrick took a glance outside the car before he added, "Besides, aren't we in public now? Hence, I don't think it's inappropriate for me to address you as Mrs. Hopper."
She was no difference than a piece of butter that tempted him into feasting on her.
Upon receiving his undoubtedly unsatisfied gaze, Amelia came out with the thought of fleeing from the scene. However, she could not put her thought into action as soon she heard him speaking again, "Everyone in your company is going to know that we had just made out if you're going to get out from the car just like that."
Amelia could not help glancing her own reflection from the rear-view mirror. Her lipstick was smudged and her lips were swollen red as a result of his master piece. Everyone who came across her was going to know what had happened in the car.
Seeing that Amelia was still stunned, Patrick helped her back onto her seat. He then used his finger to gently wipe her lipstick on her lips which was no longer vibrant in color after the make out. His gaze went soft as he described, "Your lips taste like cotton candy to me. Soft in texture and sweet in taste. The only difference it makes is that I can only eat a cotton candy at once but as for you, I won't get tired of tasting your lips over and over again..."
"That's enough!" Amelia could hear herself screaming from inside.
Amelia could not help biting her lips. She wondered how on earth could Patrick come out with such mushy speech, not to mention that even as a listener she was struggling to fight off the heat on her cheek.
Patrick had since then came to realize that Amelia had such a habit of biting her lips whenever she had butterflies in her stomach. He changed the topic of conversation as he spoke again, "I think you should redo your make-up now. Otherwise, Alice is going to ask you for this. You'll be even more embarrassed by then."
"Ha! He spoke as if he was being such a thoughtful person! Had he been thinking for me, he won't kiss me like that at the very first place!" Amelia thought.
Amelia was still holding grudge against him when she reached out to the lipstick in her handbag. With the help of the rear-view mirror, she attempted to put on her lipstick properly. Perhaps it was because of her irritated mood that she could not help feeling that her lips looked even uglier than before.
Amelia had no other choice but to redo her make-up again.
Patrick was waiting patiently for her to get her makeup done. After all, he was satisfied with the advantage that he had taken from her a moment ago.
However, even Patrick had noticed that Amelia was redoing her lips over and over again. He could not help saying, "Don't waste your lipstick. Don't wipe it off next time when you feel unsatisfied of it. I can help you to remove it by myself."
Amelia thought that it would be best not to response to him. Nonetheless, Patrick's words worked magically on her that she had put on her lipsticks successfully this time.
