Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1037

Hearing this, Patrick asked in confusion, "Isn't Apex Construction in a state of mess now? Don't you think that you would only worsen his condition when you updated him with regards to the affairs of your company?"

"Who said so?!" Amelia blurted out, "Apparently Apex Construction had already..."

Hold on.

Amelia managed to contain herself from finishing her words.

She realized that she almost leaked the news that she was trying so hard to keep from Patrick.

"What did you say? What happened to Apex Construction? Are there any good things happening?" Upon noticing that Amelia was acting strange all of a sudden, Patrick could not help asking.

Amelia's expression changed unnoticeably. It was totally fine to let Patrick know about the good news. After all, he was aware that she was on the move to secure the planning project of Eastern district. However, as soon as he learned that it was a success, she could tell that he was willing to go

extra mile in knowing who was the investor of the project.

It was a matter of fact certain that once she revealed to him that it was Sawyer who invested her company, everything could turn rather tackling.

She thought that perhaps keeping it from Patrick for as long as possible might be the best solution for her for the time being.

She decided that she was going to wait until she signed the legal document that Fred was going to bring her the next day. She would find a right time to tell Patrick herself after the legal document was sent to the government department, which officially declared the contractual relationship between Apex Construction Corporation and the government.

Amelia thought that it would better be safe than sorry for the time being. As soon as she heard the buzz sound coming from the lift, she said in relief, "We reach the basement carpark. Come on! Let's get into the car and go back now. I'm starving!"

The more she tried to ease it off, the more suspicious Patrick got at her unusualness.

But he had not forgotten the promise that he made to her. He once promised that he would not ask her about anything regarding Apex Construction Corporation especially if it concerned the project at Eastern District so long as no one had mentioned it to him. Having in mind of such a promise, he had no other choice but to suppress his confusion.

"Alright, let's go." He replied faintly before he glanced up and strode out from the lift.

Amelia who was left behind him immediately paced up to catch him. She could not help glancing at his face from the side.

Putting aside the episode that took place in the lift, she had to admit that he had presented himself perfectly!

"What are you looking at?" Patrick soon came to notice that Amelia was staring at him.

Seeing that he had glanced at her, Amelia simply asked the question that was lingering on her mind, "Had you taken care of any patients before?"

"Be specific. What kind of care that you're referring to now?"

From what he could recall, Patrick remembered that he had taken care of his younger sister who caught a cold and fever at a young age. As he grew up, he learnt to take care of his brother who got shot in his leg. Although both these experiences had not lasted for long, he would still regard himself as someone who had taken care of patients before.

A hint of embarrassment crept onto her gaze as she added, "Let's say assisting someone to use a

washroom..."

Realizing what she was trying to ask, Patrick replied, "No. Dad was the first one."

Amelia could not help feeling startled at his earnest reply.

Feeling puzzled still, Amelia asked, "Aren't you having mysophobia? How did you pluck up your courage and help my dad to the washroom? My question is, how did you bring yourself to assist his excretion?"

Patrick had to stop right in the middle of his way so that he could turn around and looked at Amelia. He sounded confused as he asked, "Don't you know the reason behind it?"

Amelia made a guess absent-mindedly, "Don't tell me that it was just an impulse that drove you into doing it."

Patrick could not help grinning. Despite finding her reply amusing, he had no other choice but to admit, "I was trying to flatter you."

Amelia's lashes trembled unnoticeably as she tried to blink away any emotions that was surging her.

Patrick seemingly sighed before he said, "Can't you feel it? Sometimes, I'm impressed by how dumb you can be."

Apparently, Howard did not believe him. He doubted, "Are you sure? Let Amelia answer the call then."

Patrick lowered his voice as he muttered, "I'm now driving. It's not convenient."

Howard snorted, "Let me guess, Amelia is not with you at all! You're fortunate to have Amelia as your wife, yet you never appreciate her. Now you're out wandering without going back home after work..."

Patrick's gaze turned cold as soon as he heard Howard scolding him. After all, he had not forgotten the fact that Howard had cheated on his wife before and that he was also the reason that led to her attempted suicide once. Patrick did not think that a man like Howard had any right to lecture him.

It turned out that Amelia was all this while observing Patrick so that she could predict what was on his mind.

At this point, she was more convinced that Sissi and her baby were the reason that Patrick had called Howard 'dad' earlier.

After all, she could tell that Patrick was still holding a grudge against Howard.

Feeling annoyed of Howard's endless nagging, Patrick removed his handsfree and threw it onto Amelia's laps. Hethen said expressionlessly, "Dad wants to speak to you."

"Oh." Amelia picked up the handsfree and put it on. She could tell that Howard was panting on the other end of the call as a result of suppressing his anger.

Amelia cleared her throat before she said sweetly, "Dad, Patrick told me that you want to speak to me."

"You're such a..." Howard was about to scold

Patrick before he heard Amelia's voice from the other end of the call. Upon realizing that Patrick had passed his call to Amelia, he asked, "Um... Amelia? Is Patrick with you now?"

"Yes." Amelia sneaked a glance at Patrick. She could tell from his expression that he was feeling irritated. Upon deliberating, she decided to explain for him, "Dad, Patrick came to Apex Construction to pick me after work. After that, we had dropped by the hospital to visit my dad."

"I see." Howard's voice turned soft as he stated, "Good to know that he had been behaving well so far."

Smiling, Amelia replied, "Dad, do you have anything else to say? If not, I'll hand over the handsfree to him."
