Howard stated, "There's no need. You can convey the message to him later after I tell you."
Amelia had to pause her action of removing the handsfree and replied, "Alright, dad. You can say it now."
Despite sounding approachable, Amelia could tell from this tone that it was a plea that was not supposed to be turned down, "Please come back home for dinner tomorrow. Your grandparents are going to arrive at Northville by flight tomorrow morning..."
There was a momentary silence.
"What?" Amelia could not help feeling nervous at this news.
Howard continued, "Granny specified that she wanted to meet you in person. Besides, she also wanted to know how are you two doing these days. I had already assured her that both of you are getting along well. As for whether she is going to believe my words or not, it all depends on the performance of you tomorrow night."
Upon hearing this, Amelia immediately fell into a dilemma.
To deal with Granny Hopper was not quite a big problem for Amelia. After all, she was quite close with Granny Hopper. However, most importantly, Gramps Hopper was going to be there too!
Judging from his irascible temper, it was not unusual for Gramps Hopper to throw a tantrum and begin hitting others with his walking stick!
As for Patrick, there was needless to say!
Tracing back to previous year during their visit to Gramps Hopper in Dallas, Patrick and Gramps Hopper went into a heated argument. Consequently, Patrick had been beaten up terribly for his hassle. Even Granny Hopper could not help feeling sympathetic towards Patrick.
As for Howard.
As a son for Gramps Hopper and a father for Patrick, Howard was supposed to be a mediator between the grandfather and grandson.
However, there was no doubt that his own infidelity as well as his imprisonment of Sissi had completely despised Patrick.
Amelia could not bring herself to imagine what was going to happen when the three men in The Hopper Family finally gathered around.
Meanwhile, she had no reason not to be present.
At the thought of this, a surge of sorrow began to
creep on her.
"Amelia, did you hear what I said?" Not long after, Howard began to speak again from the other end of the call.
Amelia tried to gather herself from the thought. She replied, "Yeah, I heard you, dad."
Howard sounded pleased at her reply, "Alright. Please let Patrick know and ask him to pick you up on time tomorrow after work."
"Sure..." Amelia replied tensely.
Upon bidding goodbye to Howard over the call, Amelia ended the call before he did.
Followingly, she began to stare at the Bluetooth handsfree in her hand.
She could almost foresee the scene when she was going to meet two of the key persons in The Hopper Family.
She could tell that Granny Hopper was going to touch her belly and be disappointed at the fact that there was no bump on it.
Gramps Hopper would no doubt blame her feasibly poor health condition as the cause of her not getting pregnant still.
Only she herself knew that she was already pregnant with Patrick's child!
She too wished that she could declare this good news to the public and entitle her child to the recognition that it deserved. But she could not overlook what was going to happen next after that.
It was highly possible that The Ramsay Family and The Hopper Family were going to end up in a dispute regarding the child's custody.
She could not let that happen.
Patrick's first love had already returned and it seemed like she was still having a piece of his heart. Therefore, Amelia could not let anyone else take away the only child that she had.
Amelia was overwhelmed by the negativity and hatred arising from the thought of this. She could not help clenching her fist with the handsfree in it.
Their car came to stop by a red light junction.
Patrick swept a glance at Amelia casually just to find out that Amelia was clenching her fist tightly with her expression deeply irritated.
He began to feel alarmed at the sight of this, hence he asked, "What did he say to you in the call?"
It took Amelia some time to realize that Patrick was talking to her. She turned around absent-mindedly and said, "I'm sorry. What did you just say to me?"
Amelia glanced at him and said mockingly, "Dad had not mentioned her to me. As for you, it seems like you can't stop thinking of her all the time. Oh! Let me guess. You are worried of her safety, that's why you try to seek for any information from me, am I right?"
This was the only possibility she could think of.
Patrick sighed before he said, "Can you stop involving Sissi in our conversation all the time?"
With a cold stare, Amelia reminded, "Watch your words. You're the one brought her up first!"
Patrick replied defensively, "I'm concerned for you, that's all!"
Frowning, Amelia fired back, "If you're truly concerned about me, please don't ever mention her name in front of me! It makes me feel disgusting!"
Patrick stared at her delicate face and asked ferociously, "Disgusting? Who's the one that disgust you now? Me or her?"
Amelia replied admittingly, "Both of you!"
"Amelia!" As Patrick roared at her, he could not help throwing a punch at the steering wheel.
The punch rightfully landed on the center of it which immediately followed by a loud and dissonant noise coming from the horn.
The honk sound instantly sent the passers-by into shock and attracted their stare at them. Even a toddler in a baby stroller was frightened to the extent that it began to whimper.
"Patrick, see what you've done!"
Amelia glared at Patrick before she hurriedly rolled down the car window and shouted her apology out to the passers-by.
Even though no one showed kindness towards her apology, at least none of them actually intended to pick up a fight. They left in a hurry when the traffic light was about to turned into green light.
Amelia heaved a sigh of relief before she fell back onto her seat.
Patrick continued to stare at her gloomily.
He realized that she was always approachable and kind towards others including strangers.
But when it came to him, she would immediately become such a ruthless person!
