Was he in his right mind?
She meant it as a joke when she proposed the idea. She had never thought that he was going to take it seriously. He had again impressed her with his narcissism.
Half a minute later, Kaiden showed up in the car again gloomily.
Knowing what had happened, she pretended to turn a blind eye and asked, "Have you asked?"
Kaiden nodded feebly as if he had been defeated.
Pursing her lips, Amelia pretended as if she knew nothing. She then continued to ask, "So how was it? Did anyone know you or tell your name?"
This time, it took Kaiden a long pause before he shook his head tensely.
Ha! She knew for sure! How could he be so narcissistic?!
Amelia wished that she could laugh it out loud, yet she pretentiously comforted him, "Now you don't have to feel worry anymore. None of them know you, let alone the incident where you were carried by the security guards."
Upon returning to his seat, Kaiden scolded angrily, "Everyone in your company is blind!"
Amelia did not deny either as she said, "Alright, you're right..."
Kaiden continued, "There's no wonder that your company is getting insolvent..."
Amelia was no doubt triggered by his words. However, she had not forgotten Fred's reminder that it was crucial to have Kaiden on their side. Hence, she got no other choice but to agree with him, "Yeah, yeah, you're right."
Kaiden was not done in venting his anger. He added, "Most importantly, this has something to do with the management of this company. Hence, as the leader of this company, you have an undelegated responsibility! Don't you know that a leader is the role model that defines the quality of the employees?"
The corners of Amelia's mouth twitched. She struggled to come to agreement with his point this time.
Kaiden felt so much better after venting his anger to Amelia.
All of a sudden, he remembered of the purpose he was here. He turned around and said, "Eh, do you still remember what I told you in your office the other day?"
"You told me a couple of things the other day. I'm not sure which one in specific that you're referring to now."
Amelia decided to play dumb this time. After all, she did not want to lose her initiative to him.
Kaiden hurriedly said, "I told you before that I would like to work with Apex Construction Corporation so that I can help with the design of the theme park at the Eastern District. You told me at that time that you were going to consider it. Have you reached any decision? There's no way that you're going to turn me down, am I right?"
Amelia was impressed by his confidence.
Meanwhile, she had to admit that she admired his confidence too.
Kaiden was getting restless upon being stared by Amelia. He urged, "Tell me what's on your mind.
Don't you just stare at me without a word, although I know it's hard to stay focus with my look!"
"Um, I see. So this is what you're talking about..."
Amelia pretended to consider his plea all over again. Meeting his anxious eyes, she finally said, "This is not entirely impossible. You can work with me provided that you must respect and obey to every work arrangement laid down by the company for employees.
In addition, you're entitled to equal treatment like any other architects in salary and benefit wise. This also means that you can't ask for any special treatment or exception for your case. Besides, you must adhere strictly to the working hours of our company.
If you think that preconditions that I've mentioned so far are acceptable, we can enter into an employment contract when you're free."
Kaiden pouted, "That's too troublesome. I have never entered into contracts of such kind before. But I can come to agree with all the conditions that you stated earlier."
Amelia shook her head and said, "Oral agreement is not counted. It's either you sign the employment contract with me or I get out from the car right now."
Kaiden's expression darkened upon being threatened by Amelia. He said, "Fine! I'll agree with whatever you say. Are you satisfied now?"
Gritting his teeth, Kaiden said, "No. What I mean is I don't want to see her in the company!"
Amelia stunned for awhile before she turned him down without hesitation, "I'm afraid that I can't fulfil your request. After all, she had not committed any wrongdoing on her work so far."
Kaiden hurriedly added, "As long as you fire her, I can assure you that I'll get you a professional one to be your assistant!"
"It's okay. Thank you. I like working with Audrey."
Although Audrey could be reckless and clumsy sometimes, after all she was the candidate that Jonathan had arranged for her. For the sake of Jonathan, she could not fire her at her wish without
a valid reason.
Frowning, Kaiden said, "It's for the sake of you and the overall interest of the company. Think about it. She's rude towards clients. Don't you afraid that one day she's going to offend your potential clients?"
Amelia asked him back in puzzlement, "Since when had Audrey been rude to you? Aren't you the one who keeps messing around with her?"
Kaiden could tell from Amelia's expression that she knew nothing of it. This suggested that Audrey had not told her about the incident where he mimicked the sound of a dog barking. He was not going to tell Amelia of such an embarrassing incident himself. Hence, he hurriedly eased it off, "No... No such thing..."
"Since you can't give me a good reason with evidence, I'll assume that you've said nothing just now."
Amelia could tell from his hesitant gaze that there was something that she did not know. She took a glance at her watch and said with her expression solemn, "It's already late. I have to get out of the car now. You should go back home too. Don't forget to come and check in sharp at nine o'clock tomorrow. Most importantly, don't be late."
The closing of the door meant that Amelia no longer got to see his gloomy face.
Amelia clapped her hands in relief. As soon as she turned around, she saw a familiar sports car was approaching in her direction gradually.
Patrick was already here!
It was also at this time that Kaiden had ignited his car engine.
