In the hospital.
Receiving the cold stare from Patrick, the orthopedist gently put down Amelia's hand before he said, "Miss, there is a fracture found at the end of your radial bone which is approximately two centimeters away from your joint..."
Amelia, who was soaked in a cold sweat as a result of agonizing pain, asked, "Doctor, could you please explain to me in layman term?"
"To put it simply, you're having a fracture at your wrist."
"I'm aware of this. What's the treatment that I'm supposed to undergo?"
"As for treatment, you can opt between conservative treatment or surgery. However, I think the former one should suffice for your injury. You can choose between bone realignment, cast or splint to support your injured hand for some time. May I know which one do you prefer?"
Amelia blurted out without a doubt, "Bone realignment! I need the fastest way to recover!"
She would need her right hand to work. Hence, cast or splint which normally take a long recovery period
did not suit her.
The doctor gave her a tiny nod before he said, 'TH realign your bone now. Please bear with me a while as it will be very painful!"
"Alright." Her face was as pale as sheet due to the agonizing pain coming from her wrist. Even so, Patrick could tell from her eyes that she was stubborn as usual from her eyes as if she was not going to be defeated by such pain. The sight of this drove Patrick into furrowing.
Approximately twenty minutes later.
The moment when Amelia walked out from the consultation room, her right hand was dangling at one side with a thick layer of bandage wrapping on her wrist.
Besides, the bracelet gifted by Milton had already been removed from her hand by the doctor.
The doctor explained that the bracelet was too proximate to the fracture which might inevitably slow down the recovery of her hand. Hence, he strongly advised her into taking it down.
Patrick swept a glance at her injured hand.
He still remembered that the doctor had warned her to be extra cautious in the following days to avoid any unnecessary injury which might worsen her injury. A joint dislocation, at the worst case, would be a lot more difficult to treat and recover.
In an instant, he could not help feeling sorry for her.
Amelia was carrying her right arm with the help of her left hand warily. At the sight of this, Patrick came over to help but all she did was shoving him away.
Glancing up, her tone was distantly cold as she asked, "Isn't this what you want?"
With that said, she turned around and leave without turning back.
Her coldness immediately lit up the fire underneath his chest. However, his anger was more appropriately directed toward his own self than her.
When both of them came to the ground floor of the hospital, Patrick could not help but reach out his hand to stop her.
He tried to make himself sound calm as he spoke, "You're already injured and I don't think that you have brought your purse along. Don't tell me that you're going to walk back to Apex Construction."
Mocking, Amelia sneered, "What for you're still being pretentious?"
"Will you feel better if I apologize to you?" Raising his eyebrows, Patrick struggled to come out with an apology that he did not use to say to anyone.
"It's impossible." Amelia refused to accept his apology.
"What can I do to make you forgive me? Do you need me to break my bone?"
At the sight of his determined expression, Amelia was convinced that he had meant his words.
Withdrawing her gaze from him, Amelia said, "There's no need. I'm not someone like you who favor an eye for an eye solution."
"Amelia!"
Just as both of them were surrounded by a tensed atmosphere, Amelia was the one who broke the silence first. All in sudden, she thought of something before she asked, "Is my phone still with you?"
Patrick replied, "Yeah."
"Give it to me."
Patrick did not do as she told.
"What now? You've already injured me. Are you going to confiscate my phone still?"
Furrowing, Patrick reached out to her phone in his pocket before he handed it over to her left hand.
After taking it from him, Amelia immediately dialed Audrey's number single-handedly.
In the next second, she was overwhelmed by the familiar agonizing pain coming from her right hand.
She hurriedly released her hands in order to ease her pain.
After all, it was not worth at all to suffer any pain for a man like Patrick.
At the thought of this, she looked away disdainfully.
The two of them fell back into silence again.
It was after another long while before an Audi came within Amelia's eyesight.
As soon as the car stopped by clumsily, Amelia reached out to open the car door without hesitation. She then got into the car without turning back.
Before Audrey could greet her, Amelia said, "We'll go back to the company now."
"Aye." Upon acknowledging Amelia's order, Audrey's attention was immediately drawn by the bandage on her hand. She could not help but exclaim, "President Ramsay, what happened to your hand?"
"It's a long story. You should drive first." With that said, Amelia fastened her seatbelt and refused to say another word.
On the other hand, Patrick's gaze followed after the Audi until it finally disappeared from his eyesight.
Despite he already had his necktie loosened, he felt suffocating still.
Feeling overwhelmed by frustration, he reached out to remove the first two buttons of his shirt. Even so, this had not managed to relieve him from feeling suffocated.
At Apex Construction Corporation.
Upon returning to the company, Amelia and Audrey had came across with Milton at the lobby of the first floor.
They greeted each other before taking the same lift.
Not long after, Amelia could tell that someone had touched her right arm gently. "What happened to your hand?"
Noticing that it was Milton who expressed his concern, Amelia could not overlook the fact that Audrey was at the back watching. Hence, she replied faintly, "Thanks to signing agreements."
"Oh?" Apparently Milton did not believe the excuse that she made up. However, he did not expose her either, "Congratulations! It seems like Apex Construction is doing well these days!"
