Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1226

On their way of discharging Alice from the hospital, Amelia had intentionally chose another direction to leave so that they would not have to pass by Brittany's ward. Since Alice was yet to recover, Amelia needed to protect her by all means from being triggered by Brittany again.

Alice said nothing regarding the unusual leaving route. It seemed like she had completely no idea that Brittany was staying somewhere nearby.

The bell of elevator rang.

Amelia held Alice by her hand while another hand of hers seemingly held her belly protectively as she walked. She took a side glance at Alice and said, "Aunt Alice, the lift is here."

Alice gave her a nod before she replied, "Well, let's go in."

As soon as they got into the elevator, Amelia seemingly thought of something all in a sudden. She slapped her forehead in frustration which immediately attracted Alice's attention. She could not help asking curiously, "Amelia, what's wrong?"

Amelia blurted out, "I forget to tell Shawn that I'm leaving!"

At this time, the door of the elevator was already closing and began descending. There were also other passengers in the lift.

Alice could not help asking as she saw the worried look on Amelia's face, "Who's Shawn?"

Amelia received a confused stare from Alice and she recalled that Alice was unware of the incident where Brittany smashed the vase. Hence, she decided to make up a lie, "An old friend of mine, but we have stopped contacting each other for years..."

Alice thought for awhile before she commented, "Judging from the name, I guess it's a guy."

Amelia replied noddingly, "You're right. It's a guy."

"Oh?" Alice gave her a meaningful look.

Amelia could tell what was probably on Alice's mind at this moment. She hurriedly explained, "Aunt Alice, he's just a nineteen-year-old kid!"

Alice immediately spotted the fallacies in her words. She casted a doubt, "Hang on! You claimed that you've stopped contacting each other for several years. But now you told me that he's only nineteen years old. In that case, how old was he when you first met him?"

Amelia stumbled over her words upon hearing the logical reasoning of Alice. It was at this time the bell of the elevator rang again. Then, the door of the elevator opened.

In a hurry, Amelia said, "Aunt Alice, I'll explain it to you later. I'll meet you at the carpark in a short while." With that said, she began to make her way out of the lift.

A number of people began entering the elevator at this moment. At the sight of this, Alice shouted, "Darling, please be careful!"

"I know! Please wait for me!" With that said, she managed to get out of the elevator.

Subsequently, she marched towards the entrance of the staircase. Fortunately, the floor that the elevator had stopped by was just one floor below the floor that Shawn's ward was. All she needed to do was to climb one floor upstairs in order to reach his ward.

Amelia was panted heavily as she pushed the door open. At the sight of this, Shawn could not help feeling delighted at her return. Even so, he asked concerningly, "What's wrong, Ms. Ramsay? Who's after you?"

"No, it's not like that..." After recovering from her heavy panting, it was only then Amelia explained, "I forgot to stop by and bid farewell to you."

"A farewell?" Shawn furrowed. Amelia sounded as if she was going to leave indefinitely.

"What I meant was, I'm going back home."

"I see..." Shawn restored the smile on his face and began to pull a joke lightheartedly, "You sounded like you're going off for a vacation."

"Nah, it's impossible!" Amelia laughed it off before she asked gently, "Speaking of travelling, is your family residing in Northville? Do you need me to contact any of them?"

Shawn shook his head as he explained, "They stayed in Wayne County. It will take them quite some time to travel to Northville. Speaking of this, I don't want to make them worry about me. It'd be better if you don't contact them."

Amelia nodded before she informed him, "If it's possible, I'll drop by to visit you during lunch hour and evening time until you're discharged. By the way, what do you feel like having for lunch tomorrow? Feel free to let me know so that I can prepare it for you."

Shawn startled for a moment. To take Amelia as his sister was akin reminding the age gap between them.

Amelia could not help but ask when she saw the triumph on Shawn's face that had faded, "Hey, you don't like my idea, do you? Are you thinking that I'm taking your advantage?"

Shawn clarified, "No, don't get me wrong. It's just that I already have three elder sisters back at home. Hence..."

Amelia was amused by his explanation. She folded her arms and asked, "You don't want to take me as your younger sister, do you? I can't possibly let you take advantage of me."

Shawn hesitated for a moment before he asked tentatively, "Can I address you like a friend?"

"Don't you forget that you're only nineteen years old. Do you really think that it's appropriate to address an elder the same way you do for your peers?" Amelia squinted her eyes idly before she insisted, "It's either you address me as Ms. Ramsay or you take me as your older sister. Which one do you prefer?"

Her words sent Shawn into hesitation. In fear that he might annoy Amelia, he hurriedly said, "I'll continue to address you as Ms. Ramsay then. I don't want you to remind me of my sisters who have always been stern on me."

Amelia smiled and said, "Good then. I shall leave now. You can contact me via WhatsApp."

Unfortunately, Shawn was not getting what he hoped for. He had no other choice but to reply dejectedly, "Well, take care, Ms. Ramsay."

In the next second, Amelia turned around all in a sudden and said, "By the way, there's a nurse named Kimberley on duty on this floor. She's my high school mate and she's very helpful. You can call and ask for her help in case you need anything. I'll share her contact to you via WhatsApp in a moment."

Shawn did not really pay attention to what was she nagging about. All he knew was that the tenderness in her eyes and voice was akin a beam

of sunlight that lit up his heart.

When Amelia got to the carpark, she could see from a distance that there was a man who stood right next to Alice. Without a doubt, the man was no other than Kaiden!
