However, it was already too late. Disregarding the tears on her mesh stockings, Patrick began to massage her legs.
Meanwhile, he asked insidiously, "Why did you dress like this?"
"It's my own choice." Upon receiving the cold stare from him, she could not help but explain, "Regardless, my dress is just a knee-length one. I had never expected that Mr. Quade would do this to me..."
Patrick interrupted her ruthlessly, "Don't you know that it's seductive to have a dress paired up with stockings? Who else are those men going to take advantage of it were not for you? Next time you're only allowed to wear pants for business occasions. Also, make sure that your pants are long enough to cover your legs. Did I make myself clear enough?"
Gosh!
How can he make such comments on Amelia's attire openly?"
It was as if he had been treating Audrey and Jonathan as an invisible. They wished so much that they could vanish into thin air at that moment so
that they would not be embarrassed by his words.
Amelia pouted gloomily. She was about to contend that no one had ever pointed out to her that her attire was inappropriate. However, as soon as she met his murderous gaze, she had no other choice but to murmur softly, "Got it. Sorry for making you worried."
"Hmph!" Patrick did not deny of his worry this time. In fact, the way Amelia was staring at him at this moment led him into believing that he was needed. Patrick could not help feeling good at the thought of this. As a result, squatting down still, he merrily massaged her legs without getting tired of it.
When they saw the scene before their eyes, Jonathan and Audrey could not help but begin to wonder if the man in front of them was exactly the same man who had been always been known as someone cold-hearted. At this moment, it appeared to them that he was nothing but a man who loved his wife dearly.
It was at this time that a beautiful woman showed up at the door.
From where she stood, she could see that Patrick was squatting in front of Amelia. However, she could not tell exactly what he was doing at the moment. At the sight of this, Kayla could not help pouting as she came in grumpily.
Amelia happened to face the door when Kayla walked in. As soon as she heard the clattering sound of heels approaching, Amelia subconsciously glanced up.
She was pretty sure that she had never seen this girl before. She came to think that Kayla was an attendant at first. However, on a second thought when she swept a glance at her attire, she soon changed her mind.
It was just a glimpse of Amelia's figure that had sent Kayla into a brief startle. In the next second, she gathered herself and began walking towards Patrick.
As Kayla approached, Amelia's instinct told her that the girl was here to look for Patrick.
She frowned as she thought of the only possibility.
Kayla came to a spot where she was sufficiently close to reach out and pat Patrick's shoulder from the back. She then reminded, "Mr. Patrick, I'm your blind date tonight. I don't think that my parents will be pleased to know that you're here to take care of another woman..."
Her words immediately confirmed what Amelia had been thinking.
Amelia pursed her lips in embarrassment. For the sake of avoiding unnecessary misunderstanding, she hurriedly withdrew her leg from Patrick's hands.
As soon as he noticed her leg was slipping away from his grips, Patrick subconsciously tightened his grip. As a result, he managed to grab her flats before she could completely withdraw her leg.
It was during this time when Patrick was left startled. As far as he could recall, Amelia used to wear heels to work. It seemed like her preference had changed these days as he found her in flats most of the time recenltly.
Amelia could feel that he was grabbing her foot or precisely speaking, it was her flats that he was holding onto. She also could not overlook the fact that his blind date was still around the corner and staring at their intimate postures at that instance.
She hushed, "Patrick, get your hands off me now!"
Kayla threw a glance at Amelia before she spoke to Patrick with her expression harmless, "That's right, Mr. Patrick! Don't you know how dirty worn shoes are?"
Amelia could not tell whether Kayla was simply referring to her shoes or mocking her indirectly.
"Oh, don't worry! I'm fine, President Ramsay. When that b*stard was holding me from behind, I kept stomping his feet and I knocked him with my elbows. He could barely touched me!" Despite saying so, the truth was her feet were so numb that she could hardly feel them when she stood up.
Jonathan sighed in regret, "Alas, in the end of the day, I'm the one to take all the blame. I shouldn't have left both of you here. This could be avoided altogether if I tried not to use the washroom!"
The three of them came passing by Patrick as they chattered.
It was hard to walk pass a man like Patrick without acknowledging his presence. Hence, Amelia thought of expressing her gratitude towards him before she left. It was at this time that she heard someone speaking near the door, "Patrick, Kayla, why are you here?"
Before Amelia could process on how she should respond to the situation, Eve had already found her way inside. She pointed a finger at Amelia and began scolding, "B*tch! Why can't you leave us in peace? Why must you follow Patrick wherever he goes?!"
"Mom!" Patrick stood in front of Amelia defensively before he reminded coldly, "You won't want to make a scene in public."
Despite saying so, the truth was he did not mind to have Eve done so at his first thought. After all, it was never his intention to attend to the blind date that was being arranged for him tonight.
However, as soon as he noticed the panic and vulnerability that flashed across her saddened eyes, he was driven by an impulse to protect and defend Amelia regardless.
Patrick's reminder immediately shut Eve up.
Kayla was taken aback by Eve's fury. At the sight of this, Eve hurriedly explained, "Kayla, I'm not usually a hot-tempered person. It's simply because I have been holding too much grudge against Patrick's ex-wife. Believe me when I say that I'm normally someone who is approachable."
Kayla replied with a hint of terror in her voice, "I trust you, Aunt Eve."
"Good girl!" Eve continued to speak to Kayla softly as she smiled, "Kayla, your parents are asking for you since you've left the table for some time now. Why not you return to the room and accompany them first? We'll be back there in a while."
"Sure." Kayla nodded obediently.
