Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1283

When Kaiden's mother heard him say that he was going back to work, she was aggravated. "You still want to work for Amelia? Well, if you haven't brought it up, I would've already forgotten about this. Resign and come back home immediately. We have to talk about this!"

Kaiden stood his ground. "You want me to resign and go home? I'll only do that if the company shuts down!"

Kaiden's mother panted in rage, "You brat. Are you trying to piss me off?"

"Mom, I owe her. If you don't want your son to spend the rest of his life in regret, then I hope you can respect my decision." Kaiden hung up after giving his mother the baffling reason.

Soon after hanging up, his phone rang again. When Kaiden looked at it, it was yet another call from home. He declined the call gloomily.

He finally understood that, although Amelia failed in rejecting his affection, she was making use of his family to escape from him!

He had never met a woman as bold as her! Most of them would want to hide this side of their personality from others, but Amelia had used such despicable mean to stop him from attempting further!

Kaiden gritted his teeth in anger, but at the same time, he sincerely admired her. He would not dare to make the same decision as her if placed in a similar situation.

However, this back and forth between the two of them, with no one willing to give in, excited Kaiden. So, this only strengthened his resolution in pursuing her.

Although Amelia had personally contacted his family to disrupt his plan, but as she mentioned, if he really wanted to pursue her, it was only a matter of time before she met his family. After that, she would not be able to deal with what would happen to her next. Kaiden might as well take advantage of her call as a heads up to his family!

After Kaiden organized his thoughts, he restored his confidence. At that moment, he looked out of the window frustratingly while he was trying to envision a happy future with Amelia, the weather outside had changed.

A huge dark cloud appeared, gradually covering the sun. It looked as if it was about to rain at any time.

Kaiden's shoulder shook, and he suddenly had an

ominous premonition.

At the same time, in the manager's office.

Amelia sat at her desk as she let out a long sigh of relief. After dealing with Kaleb and managing to drive Kaiden away from her, no one else had come to find her at her office. Finally, she could relax.

However, she was a little thirsty after talking so much during the afternoon.

With that thought in mind, Amelia reached out to pick up the cup of water on the table, only to find that it was empty.

She was momentarily taken aback. If only Audrey was here, as she would always take note about these things in advance.

Just then, a knock sounded on the door. Amelia put down the cup with a frown, licked her dry lips, and invited, "Come in!"

She caught sight of the door being pushed open, and a figure walked in, shocking Amelia.

"Audrey? Didn't you request for leave? Why are you here?"

Amelia smiled mysteriously and assured her, "Don't worry, Audrey. Whatever will be, will be. The first thing we have to do is to secretly engage a lawyer. It doesn't matter if he's famous in the industry, but he has to be dependable." "Oh!" Puzzled, Audrey continued, "I know we need a lawyer to advocate for us in a lawsuit, but why do we have to do this in secret?"

And so Amelia informed Audrey everything about Kaleb's visit.

As Audrey listened to the whole story, she understanding^ replied, "You're worried that the lawyer Kaleb hired for you will fail at the critical moment, so you plan to hire another lawyer to represent you. To prevent Kaleb from knowing that you engaged another lawyer behind his back, that's why you want to keep all these in the dark?

Amelia gave her an affirmative smile. "Yes, you got it."

Audrey nodded and eagerly asked, "Director Ramsay, will you still need me to appear as a witness at court in two days time?"

"Well..." Amelia thought that it would be better to find another time to discuss this with Patrick. She mumbled, "I think we should talk about this next time."

With the look of hesitation on Amelia's face, Audrey thought Amelia was afraid that she would be a burden to her. Hence, Audrey quickly put down her cup and patted her chest in a solemn vow, "Director Ramsay, please tell me if you need

help. I'm more than willing to help you!"

Amelia was touched, but she did not want Audrey to worry too much about her. "Take it easy, Audrey. I understand. Thank you for voicing out, but your body hasn't fully recovered yet, right? I'll ask someone to send you back to rest first."

"No need, Director Ramsay. I can do it myself!"
