Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1383

'We should build more trust before we get back together.'

Patrick frowned and stared at Amelia's face. He was trying to figure out a way to convince her.

However, he failed to come up with an idea.

Amelia was telling him that if he wanted to marry her again, he would have to trust her unconditionally. He could not make any complaints even when she hung out with her guy friends. Patrick had to swallow all of his negative feelings.

But how could he tolerate that?

He was a control freak!

But, it would only annoy Amelia if Patrick was blunt about his feelings. So, he treaded tactfully, "The reason I was displeased every time when you met your guy friends was that I was worried about you. You're petite and innocent, and they might take advantage of you..."

Amelia's face turned gloomy as if she was going to blame Patrick for criticizing her friends. Patrick then paused for a moment before he went on, "I don't mean to stop you from seeing them. I just hope you can protect yourself better. This comes from my urge to protect you. Do you understand now?"

So, he was trying to turn his possessiveness into protectiveness. Amelia had to give it to him for that.

"You were trying to protect me, huh? Well, let's just say if I had treated your girl friends the same way as to how you treated my guy friends, would you feel happy about that?" Amelia asked calmly after she finished teasing him in her heart.

"Yes! Why not?" Patrick answered without hesitation as if he could not wait for her to put it into practice immediately.

Amelia was stunned. Then she glared at him blankly as she thought to herself, "Why can't he play by the book? How am I supposed to react next?"

"Mrs. Hopper, I can't wait to see the envious look on your face when I hang around with another woman," Patrick softened his tone and said as he noticed Amelia's helpless look.

"Aren't you annoyed with dealing with women who get jealous easily?" Amelia asked out of curiosity as she had experienced it plenty herself.

"Sure, I would be annoyed it was any other woman. But if it's you, then I'll be delighted instead," replied Patrick. Amelia was the only person that he cared about.

"Just keep in mind what you're saying now." Amelia was not a saint. She definitely felt jealous when she saw Patrick with other women.

But, Amelia had no right to compete with those love rivals before this. Patrick had once even warned Amelia not to meddle in his private affairs, including everything about Sissi.

Therefore, Amelia had never made a big fuss out of this. No, she might have done it once or twice.

Choosing to divorce him was the only big ruckus she caused.

The reason she had asked Patrick to keep in mind what he had promised to her was to bring convenience for her in the future when she needed to rake over the ashes.

Since Patrick was so eager to give Amelia the right to be jealous, he would have to eat his words if he ever felt annoyed about her jealousy someday.

After that, the two moved on to other topics. Soon, Amelia felt sleepy as she was lying comfortably on the bed.

She tried to keep her eyes open and focus on Patrick, who was still talking to her. In the end, she gave in and drifted into sleep quietly.

So, Amelia could only continue to pretend to be asleep and secretly pay attention to what Patrick was going to do next.

Patrick did not want to do anything to her. All he wanted to do was to greet his child.

Although Amelia repeatedly denied that she was pregnant, from Patrick's observations about how she had begun to wear flatter shoes and looser shirts, he was pretty sure that she was lying to him!

However, Amelia would inevitably argue with him if he blew her cover that way. So, he could only secretly talk to the baby when she was asleep.

"I'm sorry," Patrick murmured towards Amelia's stomach as he tried to not wake her. His usually sharp gaze softened with guilt and remorse lacing his eyes.

He was puzzled about why Amelia refused to sleep with him recently. However, Patrick seemed to have figured it out.

Amelia had turned him down endlessly because she was carrying his child.

Patrick then felt indignant about his mean trick back then when he tried to knock her out with drugs.

He would have treated her mercilessly if she had not turned witty and imitated Florence's tone to address him as brother.

Besides, it seemed that she should have been pregnant before they divorced, but he did not even realize that. He was so dumb to leave Amelia and their child, and she nearly got bullied by Mr. Quade. There would be hell to pay if Patrick did not happen to pass by the place.

Patrick shuddered at the thought of that. He then kissed Amelia's stomach over and over again as he repeatedly muttered, "I'm sorry for putting you through all the trouble."
