As soon as the plane landed, Wayne, Richard and the rest immediately got up and left their seats in high spirits, while Patrick held Amelia in his arms and brought her off the plane.
He glanced at her and said in a husky voice, "Look at you. I told you to leave me and catch some sleep. But you forced yourself to stay awake and accompany me. You’re having a hard time now, aren’t you?”
Amelia merely rested her head on his shoulder, narrowed her watery eyes and muttered, "I tried hard to fight off the urge to sleep because I was worried that you would get bored. You should appreciate my effort."
Patrick's heart softened upon seeing how she was insistent in talking to him even though she was drained. So, he stopped arguing and said, "Okay."
"Hmm," Amelia hummed with a satisfied look, then leaned onto him. From the back, it looked like she was being dragged away by Patrick.
Wayne had already linked up with those who came to pick up Patrick and Amelia when the couple
walked out the main gate of the airport.
Amelia scanned around and found a Land Rover parked by the driveway. Then, Wayne opened the rear car door for the couple to get in the car.
"How about the rest of you?" Amelia asked as she saw that there were only two seats left after she got in the car with Patrick. Eight guards came back with them, so there were not enough seats for the rest.
Wayne got in the car quickly, followed by Richard. After Richard closed the door, Wayne explained, "Amelia, Richard and I will be responsible for the safety of you and Bro Patrick. The rest of them will figure out a way to go back themselves."
Amelia's eyes widened in surprise. "Just the two of you? Is that enough?"
Wayne beamed and assured, "Amelia, don't worry. Nobody dares to make waves at Bro Patrick's territory."
Amelia blurted out, "Then, why was I kidnapped?"
Wayne's smile did not falter when he continued, "That was because you didn't stay with Bro Patrick twenty-four seven, so they had a chance to hurt you! You should pick a date to remarry Bro Patrick and hold a grand wedding ceremony so that everyone knows that you're his woman that he cares about so much. I can guarantee that no one
will dare to hurt you again!"
Amelia stole a side glance sideways and found that Patrick seemed to be dozing off. She was relieved and mocked in a low voice, "Oh? If what you said is true, why did I always get picked on after I married him?"
Wayne lowered his voice like Amelia did and replied, "Huxton told me that you married
Bro Patrick in secret before this, and the two of you didn't even hold a wedding ceremony. Perhaps that was where the problem was. If a man really loves a woman, why won't he hold a wedding for her? Others must have thought that Bro Patrick was only fooling around with you and wasn't treating you sincerely."
The second Wayne finished, Patrick shot daggers at him instantly, which crept Wayne out.
"Hey, Bro Patrick. I didn't mean to tell Amelia all of that. Don't stare at me like that. I'm scared..." said Wayne as he cowered behind Richard aggrievedly.
Amelia pursed her lips as she glanced at Patrick, who had put on a long face. She then said with a pout, "Did Wayne say anything wrong about you? It's true that you didn't hold a wedding for me. It's useless for you to glare at him."
Patrick stopped shooting daggers at Wayne because of Amelia's words.
Patrick fell silent for a moment then agreed, "Well, you should certainly go and visit them. But, you've just had a long-haul flight, and it's late at night now. You must be tired, so what if you fall ill? Come home with me and take a good rest before making any further planning. Is it okay?"
Amelia was in a dilemma.
Patrick sighed softly and looked dejected. "Are you so reluctant to stay with me for just one night?" Patrick asked.
Amelia could not bear to see him sad, so she immediately said, "No, I'm not. I'll stay here for the night then. Sorry to bother you."
Patrick slightly raised his brows upon hearing her and thought to himself, “Hey, the trick works! What
a pleasant surprise!”
He was not that confident in persuading Amelia to stay with him in the first place. After all, it was Northville, which was where many of Amelia's relatives stayed. Besides, he had stayed with her for a few days, so maybe she had gotten sick of him.
It turned out that Patrick was overthinking about it.
Most of the women would turn clingy after falling in love, and Amelia might have developed deeper feelings for Patrick after getting back together with Patrick!
She did share the same feeling as Patrick as she wanted to stay with him all the time.
