Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1406

“Abner, what for are you hiding from?"

Sawyer stared at the tiny figure in front of him outrageously. After all, Abner was his son. There was no reason for him to be afraid of him.

Abner glance up and asked Sawyer, "Daddy...Y ou don't trust me, don't you? You trust her instead."

Sawyer's heart sank upon hearing this.

Despite the fact that Abner was expressionless when he said that, somehow Sawyer could tell a hint of sorrow from his voice.

Abner asked again, "Daddy, you think that I... read it out poorly on purpose, so that I could... embarrass her in front of you, don't you?

Sawyer could not help frowning. It was supposed to be him questioning Abner. Instead, it turned around and sounded more as if Abner was interrogating him at this moment.

Nonetheless, it was the first time he ever saw Abner reacting to his questions aggressively. He could not help but wonder if he had in fact misunderstood him.

Sawyer's hesitation in a split of second immediately led Abner into pulling a long face. He cried out, "Daddy, I'm just a kid after all... I wouldn't have... thought of being... scheming at all."

Sawyer could no longer be harsh towards Abner upon hearing this. Just as he was about to say something, Sissi called out at this time from the kitchen, "Dinner is ready!"

Sawyer did not continue with what he intended at the first place. Instead, he stood up and said to Abner, "Let's go and have dinner."

"Okay."

At the sight of the tiny figure turning around and heading to the kitchen dejectedly, Sawyer was swept away by an indescribably mixed feelings.

After dinner.

Sawyer came to the balcony alone. Upon lighting up a cigarette, he began staring at the balcony view solemnly.

He was trained to handle business matters skillfully. However, when it came to tackling his family affair, he was overwhelmed by frustration. At this moment, he had no idea where to begin with.

He pondered for a moment before he took out his phone and began dialing.

In the taxi.

Amelia was on the way back to the Ramsay Mansion. She hurriedly took out her phone as soon as she heard her phone ringing. Since she was using a brand-new phone, the previous contact list that she stored in her previous phone was not transferred into the current one that she was using. That was why she did not think twice to swipe right and answer the call even if it was a call from an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"Ms. Amelia, it's me."

"Sawyer?"

"It's my pleasure that you still recognize my voice, Ms. Amelia."

Upon verifying the caller's identity, Amelia asked politely, "Mr. Quartley, is there anything I can help you?"

"I'd like to know how you have been teaching my son all this while." Sawyer's question was sharp when he asked in a distantly cold manner.

Amelia could tell that something was off She could not help but ask, "Is there anything wrong with Abner? Your tone seem to be troubled?"

It was only then Sawyer began telling her what had happened earlier when Sissi taught Abner into reading a poem. With that being told, he added, "But, when it came to Abner's turn to read the poem on his own, he got stuck. I can only think of one possibility..."

Amelia could not help but burst out laughing. She interrupted, "So, you suspected that I brainwashed Abner into despising Sissi? You think that I'm the one who taught Abner to go against Sissi, don't you?"

Sawyer remained silence at her question.

Amelia was swept away by fury at this moment. She ridiculed coldly, "Ha! It intrigues me that the first thing ever comes to your mind when something is not right with your son's educational affair is to point a finger at other people. Had you looked at yourself in the mirror before and thought if it was because of your own problem? I remember that I made myself clear enough earlier. If you're afraid of me using Abner as a tool for revenge, you always have a right to stop me from seeing Abner. I'm not taking back my words."

n o n

Sure.

Both of them hung up the phone at the same time. None of them mentioned the Florence trip. It was as if the incident where Amelia had been abducted and the fact that Sawyer was arrested for drug trafficking back in Florence had not happened at all.

At Streams Villa.

After the call ended, Sawyer murmured to himself smilingly, "She is a capable person, isn't she?"

In the next second, Sissi’s voice came from the back softly, "Sawyer, I was wondering where had you been earlier. It turns out that you're here on a phone call with another

n woman.

Sawyer's eyes flickered with a hint of panic before he turned around and explained, "It's just a friend from business. Don't overthink,

Sissi."

Sawyer regretted as soon as he finished his words. He could not believe that he would lie to Sissi in her face one day.

At that moment, Sissi approached him. She then placed her hand on his chest as she asked, "Oh? Is she important to you?"

Sawyer took the chance and held her waist, "No other woman matters as much as you do for me." With that said, he began kissing her.

Despite being kissed by him, Sissi could not help feeling lost.

Sawyer remained in silence all the way when they were having dinner earlier. However, he looked completely relieved after the phone call. She could not help but wonder who was the woman that he had been talking to on the phone. After all, it seemed like that unknown woman was capable of making him happy.
