Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1408

As they walked back to the hall, Alice said sincerely, "Since I've gotten permission from you, I don't have to worry if anyone else were to ask me this in future. Amelia, I promise you that I will always support the both of you no matter what happens!"

When Alice said those words, Amelia could not help beaming, "That means a lot to me, Aunt Alice."

All in a sudden, someone from upstairs interrupted, "Mom, it's late. Aren't we going to have dinner?"

As soon as they heard Brittany, Amelia and Alice could not help but glance up at the same time. It was only then they noticed Brittany who was coming down from second floor gracefully.

Brittany's condition was exactly how she had described to Amelia earlier. Although she was still limping a little, she was capable of walking on her own.

When Brittany noticed Amelia who was standing next to Alice, Brittany had to admit that she was overjoyed. She exclaimed to herself secretly, "B*tch, you're finally back! I've been waiting for this moment all this while!"

Overwhelmed with excitement, Brittany could not help but tighten her grip on the staircase railing agitatedly. She then took a deep breath to calm herself down. She then came downstairs and walked over to Amelia.

"You're finally back, Amelia. I've been missing n

you.

"Oh really?" As Amelia glanced at Brittany, she did not mind to put up a show, "I miss you too, my dear sister."

Despite the fact that both of them were smiling, the truth was they could not despise each other more.

Alice cleared her throat before she tried to ease the invisible tug of war between her two daughters, "It's time to get seated for dinner. Let's go."

Brittany had been provoking Amelia on purpose when they were having dinner. For a couple of times, before Amelia could reach out to the dishes, Brittany had picked up and put them onto her own plate on purpose.

Amelia put down her cutlery before she asked, "Brittany, what is this for?"

Brittany leaned her cheek upon her hand as she replied smilingly, "There's nothing. But, I do have a question for you, Amelia. How do you feel if someone else were to take away things that are supposed to be yours?"

Alice glanced at her youngest daughter angrily and scolded, "Brittany, how can you talk to Amelia this way? She is your sister after all!"

Brittany turned around and looked at Alice pitifully. Blinking her eyes in the most harmless way, she said, "Mom, I was just speaking the truth. I swear that I was not looking for her trouble. You believe me, don't you?

Alice was about to continue scolding Brittany when she heard Amelia saying, "Brittany, I have the answer to your question. Irrespective of the fact that you were referring to those dishes on your plate or other matters, they are all the same to me. Bear in mind that it was not you who snatched them away from me. You were merely picking up my unwanted scraps. You can think that it was my mercy for you."

Brittany was infuriated upon having Amelia's answer. In fact, all she wanted was to call Amelia a shameless person for taking everything away from her all this while. However, she did not expect that Amelia managed to fire back at her somehow.

All in a sudden, Brittany struggled to find her voice to retort against her. Instead, all she could do was to glare at Amelia. At the sight of this, Amelia asked smilingly, "Is there any questions that I can help you with, my dear sister?"

With a bitter smile on her face, Brittany scoffed, "There's nothing else. Your time will come. I hope that you'll be able to stay as calm by then!"

Amelia wondered, "My time will come... What did she mean?"

Amelia swept a glance at Brittany suspiciously. She then exchanged a look with Alice unnoticeably.

Alice immediately understood. Giving Amelia a tiny nod, she decided that she was going to keep a close eye on Brittany in the following days. She could not afford to have Brittany created any more troubles for the Ramsay Family.

After dinner.

Brittany swept a final glance at Amelia before she left the table and ran back to her room.

Alice could not help shaking her head upon seeing this. She then turned to Amelia and said apologetically, "Don't take it to heart, Amelia. Brittany can be very arrogant sometimes. It'd be hard to expect her to compromise."

Since Amelia had returned to the Ramsay Family, Brittany guessed it was finally the right time to execute the task that Daniel had entrusted her.

Beep...

"Hello... Is that you, Brittany? It has been some time since I last talked to you. Um... How are you and your Mom? Burp!"

Brittany could tell from the noise on the other end of the call that Kaleb had been drinking. She could not help but roll her eyes annoyingly. After all, that old man was still crushing on her mother. She thought, "He must be daydreaming to think that he still stands a chance!"

Despite so, she had not forgotten the fact that she needed his favor at this moment. Hence, she replied fawningly, "Uncle, you have no idea how much we've been missing you especially my Mom! She has been talking about you all the time!"

Kaleb asked excitedly, "Oh really? What did she say about me?"

Brittany fiddled with her fingers as she replied grinningly, "My Mom told me that she missed you. She used to tell me that you're the only relative who stayed with us throughout our darkest time. You've been helping us all this while when when we needed you the most!"

Kaleb could not help panting dreamily, "You're not lying to me, are you? Your Mom did tell you so?"

"Of course, I'm not! How dare I to he to your face? You're like the FBI in Apex Construction Corporation. I don't think you'll ever be fooled by anyone."

Kaleb's voice was filled with sarcasm when he ridiculed, "FBI? It might be true in the past but I don't think so for now. Since the day

I've been stationed by your sister at this deserted place, I don't even know what has happened in Northville these days."

Brittany could not help but frown, "What? Are you saying that you're not in Northville now?

Kaleb sighed and replied, ’’That's right."
