Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1409

"D*mn it!

He's not in Northville?

Why the hell didn't he tell me earlier?!"

As she was thinking about it, Brittany pursed her lips tightly in an attempt to suppress her anger. How much she wished that she could give Kaleb a punch to his face at this moment. At the same time, she had not forgotten what Daniel had told her in his letter. Kaleb's help was the key contributing factor that determined the success of their plan.

Therefore, she had no other choice but to say calmly, "To be frank with you, I would like to ask for your help for something very important at this moment. Is that possible for you to end your business trip earlier?" "Well..." Kaleb replied hesitantly, "Your sister made it very clear to me that I'm not allowed to come back before the business trip is due."

"Uncle, can't you come back secretly? She will never know!"

"Come back secretly?" Kaleb was stunned at her suggestion. He hushed, "No way! I will be punished if she happens to discover it later!" Brittany continued to persuade him, "Uncle, I can guarantee that you'll be fine even if she were to know about this later on! Please come back..."

With his own doubts, Kaleb hesitated, "What's the matter, Brittany? Can't you tell me on the phone?"

Brittany lowered her voice and explained solemnly, "The matter is too sensitive to be discussed over the call. I have to protect it's secrecy at all cost. But, I can assure you that you'll definitely benefit from it!"

"What kind of benefit can I get?" Kaleb was still in a confused state.

There was no way that Brittany was going to tell him at this moment. She had to ensure that he would come back and helped them out. Hence, she refused to give him any more information, "Uncle! I need an answer from you, are you coming back or not? If you're not going to come back, I have no other choice but to ask this favor from other people. Don't blame me if you were to suffer losses by that time!"

Kaleb hurriedly said, "Hold on, Brittany! I've been drinking tonight, so I'm feeling tipsy at the moment. Don't you try to fool me!"

Kaleb sounded as if he was moved by her proposal. With this thought in mind, Brittany continued coaxing, "Dear uncle, I will never lie to you. Don't worry, you'll be amply rewarded. As for the details, I'll tell you when you're back to Northville. What do you think?"

Kaleb finally brought himself to agree with her. He replied, "Fine, I'll book the return ticket tomorrow when I wake up..."

Brittany interrupted impatiently before he could finish his sentence, "Don't wait until tomorrow, uncle. I'll get you the flight ticket now. All you need to do is to head to the airport now!"

Kaleb startled and wondered if he had misheard her, "What? Is that really necessary to be now? Brittany, don't you think you're too anxious? I'm still..."

Brittany cried out fawningly, "Uncle, it is indeed a matter of urgency! I'm anxious for the sake of your benefit!"

"Fine!" Kaleb caved in eventually. He grunted, "Anyhow I'm so done with this place! I'll be back tonight then."

Brittany's face instantly lit up with a victorious smile. She hurriedly said, "That sounds great! I'll go and book the flight ticket for you online. It will no doubt save a lot of trouble for you when you reach the airport."

The next day morning at Starbucks.

Kaleb looked miserable after the long journey. He was hung-over when he sat across the table sipping on the cup of coffee that Brittany had ordered for him. However, as soon as he heard the matter that Brittany had been keeping from him since the previous night, his eyes nearly popped out from his head. In the next second, he was completely sober. He exclaimed, "What did you just say?! Amelia is not George's daughter?"

"Shh!" Brittany shushed, "Uncle, lower down your voice! You won't want others to overhear you!"

"No, hold on! I need some time to digest this information!" Kaleb placed his hand on the chest as if he might suffer from a heart attack at any time soon.

Brittany lifted up her cup of coffee and took a sip of it. She then said, "Uncle, sit back and relax. This is not the only thing that I need to tell you."

A few moments later.

It was only then Kaleb learned that Amelia had the rare Rh-negative blood. However, he remembered that George's blood type was nothing of such rarity.

Kaleb struggled to suppress his excitement. He hurriedly flipped to the back of the report and found a certificate of adoption which appeared to be of age. He could not help asking, "Kindness Orphanage?"

Brittany replied noddingly, "That's right. Although I'm yet to verify this with Kindness Orphanage myself, the answer is pretty much obvious, isn't it? The picture of the baby in there looks exactly the same when Amelia was much younger. Besides, the fact that Dad hid this certificate secretly is enough to suggest of its validity. Now you can believe me that I didn't make this up."

Kaleb could no longer sit back and relax at this moment. However, in the next second, he seemed to recall something. He could not help but say frowningly, "Even if it's true that Amelia is not George's biological daughter, don't you forget that he has been pampering her as if she is one all this while. This alone is enough to suggest that he doesn't care about the fact that she is merely an adopted one..."

Brittany muttered solemnly, "This is the second thing that I would like to discuss with you today, uncle. As a part of the Ramsay Family, don’t you mind if our family business will eventually be taken over by someone who has no blood connection with us at all?"

From Kaleb's deep furrow, anyone could simply tell that he was definitely unwilling for it to happen.

Brittany did exactly what she was told to do by Daniel in his letter. She provoked again, "Don't you forget how Amelia has been treating you all this while. You're the one who is rightfully the elder of the Ramsay Family as well as the shareholder of the company. However, she rather entrusts the business matter with a stranger named Jonathan. Not only she is not willing to cooperate with you, but she sent you away to such a deserted place. This is enough to suggest that she has no respect for you, uncle. Her ultimate goal is to take away your power in the company. Do you really want that to happen, uncle?"

Rai eb was not doubt furious at the cold treatment he received in the company all this while. The burning anger was getting more intense especially after Brittany's provocation. Despite so, he still had his own doubts, "But..."

Brittany immediately sighed, "Uncle, I'm sure that you're aware of my father's condition n

now...

Rai eb cleared his throat before he said, "Of course I know about this, but..."

The truth was Kaleb was also aware of George's temper. If he were to learn about their conversation later, Kaleb could not imagine what was the consequences awaiting for him.
