Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1426

When the family doctor was busy giving Brittany an IV drip, Alice stood by the side and asked worriedly, "Doctor, Brittany's fever was already gone this morning. Why did the fever come back so quickly?"

After the family doctor stuck the needle into the vein on the back of Brittany's hand, he stood up and said to Alice, "Madam Alice, I don't know what's going on either. But, please help me recall carefully. Did Miss Brittany do something that caused her to suffer from a cold again after the fever went down?"

After his reminder, Alice suddenly remembered, "When Brittany woke up this morning, she did go to the bathroom to take a shower. But, she took a hot shower. So, I thought it would be fine."

The family doctor shook his head gently and said, "Madam Alice, Miss Brittany's body has become much weaker than before after the miscarriage. She must have fallen sick again after the shower."

Alice turned to look at Brittany who was lying on the bed, unconscious with a reddened face. Her mouth was slightly parted as if she was gasping for air. It looked like she couldn't breathe.

As soon as the doctor saw the look on Alice’s face, the family doctor quickly said, "Madam Alice, though I've already given Miss Brittany a treatment, the medical conditions in the house are limited. If Miss Brittany's condition doesn't become better before dinner, then please send her to the hospital. If the fever turns into pneumonia, it'll be troublesome."

"Okay, I got it. Thank you, doctor!" Alice said gratefully and sat down by Brittany's bed, looking at her with concern and self-blame.

Watching Brittany's frail face, Alice burst into tears. It was her fault for not taking care of her child in these twenty-four hours!

Brittany had put in a lot of effort to make sure she stayed in Northville. In return, her sacrifice had succeeded in causing the rheum to infect her lungs, and she was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment that same night. As for sending her back to school, Alice who was guilt-ridden had naturally forgotten all about it.

Although Amelia thought it was a curious coincidence, she did not ponder much on it. After all, who would have thought that the pampered Brittany would take her health for granted just to stay at Northville?

The next morning, during the weekend.

At one of the villas at Streams Villa.

In the living room, a plush and clean blanket was placed on the white marble floor. An adult and a child were sitting on it, then the adult said to the child in a coaxing tone, "Abner, Mommy will teach you how to read a story. Okay?"

Abner stopped fiddling with the airplane models. He raised his huge dark eyes and looked up at Sissi with a resentful stare.

Although he had already cooperated with Sissi as best as he could according to Amelia's instructions, he was close to losing it!

Because Sissi did not know what he needed. She always put her wishes on him and then pushed him to Sawyer, asking him to show Sawyer the results of her effort.

He felt like the children in TV series who were being used to win favour. The adults did not actually love him, as they just wanted to make use of him to achieve their own goals.

This disappointed Abner tremendously. Although he had no real relationship with Sissi, his father had always hoped he could accept Sissi as soon as possible. He was trying to do so too, but if it was not meant to be, it would not come to be. He would always unintentionally compare Sissi with Amelia, which made him miss Amelia even more and caused him to resist Sissi.

Just then, Abner felt someone touching his face. Although it was a light touch, it still aroused his displeasure.

Sissi had caressed Abner's face and asked as usual, "Abner, Mommy's talking to you. Why don't you pay attention to Mommy?"

"I've... answered you," Abner replied slowly.

"Really? Did you? Why didn't Mommy hear you?" Sissi looked at him innocently. In her eyes, Abner was like a doll without feelings. It was difficult for her to understand his thoughts from reading his expression.

"Yes," Abner answered quickly with his eyes flickering with light.

Sawyer looked at Sissi who was not far away from them but, she shook her head at him with a wry smile.

Sawyer's face darkened when he turned back to Abner. "Since when did you learn to lie to Dad?"

Abner was taken by surprise. Under Sawyer's strict gaze, he lowered his head.

"It's okay, Sawyer," Sissi said understandingly from behind the father and son. "Abner isn't naughty. It's just that his request surprised n me.

"What request?" Sawyer asked.

"He said he wants to see Miss Amelia Ramsay." It took Sissi a lot of effort to keep the smile on her face.

Sawyer answered, "Oh?" Sissi could not single out any emotion from his face.

Sissi pretended to be magnanimous and continued, "Let's invite Ms. Amelia over.

Abner always talks about her and can't focus on studying."

Sissi made it sounded like Amelia was the reason for Abner's failure in focusing while studying.
