"Why do you sound like you can't forgo either of them?" From start to end, Amelia had never addressed Sissi as 'Ms. Roberts' and had dropped any honorifics.
She stopped being polite to Sissi since long ago.
So, Sissi did not need to act courteously towards Amelia at all. "Amelia, can you believe it? If it was in the past, you would never have attracted neither Patrick or Sawyer."
Amelia then easily used Sissi's words against her, "Just like how you can't attract
Patrick now?"
Amelia had undoubtedly attacked Sissi on her sore spot as Sissi retorted in rage, "That's because Patrick doesn't know I'm here.
Otherwise, he’ll come to me!"
"Oh, that's confident of you." Amelia appeared to be indifferent. "But, have you ever wondered why I was not surprised at all when I saw you?"
"Abner must have spilt the beans to you by accident." That was the only reason Sissi could think of.
"Wrong. It was Patrick who told me." Amelia corrected.
"What?" Sissi's eyes widened violently. She then immediately denied without thinking twice, "That's impossible!"
Amelia continued with her confidence as Patrick's partner, "That's the fact. Patrick knew that you were at Sawyer’s place a long time ago. In fact, it's not a big deal for him to check for someone's whereabouts with his means. Not only that, he also promised me that... he would forget you."
"No way! That's impossible!" Sissi still refused to accept the truth.
Amelia looked at Sissi with a smile as Sissi slowly descended into madness. "You must have been used to Patrick and Sawyer treating you as the apple in their eyes. Even though Patrick's married, you insisted to be with him. You may claim to be boldly pursuing true love, but to put it bluntly, you re just a mistress."
Sissi ground her teeth and scolded in a hushed voice, "Shut up! You know nothing! You're weren't even there when I was with Patrick!"
Amelia generously accepted the fact. "Yes. I was still young back then, unlike you, who was already in your thirties. Yet, you still put your mind on men younger than you."
If Amelia had remembered correctly, when Sissi became Sawyer's private tutor, Patrick was in college and Sawyer was still in high school. So, it was reasonable to say that Sissi was many years older than Patrick and Sawyer.
Amelia had once again rubbed salt to Sissi's wound. Sissi got so mad that she lost her cool. "What's wrong with being old? Can't we fall in love with someone younger just because of that?"
"That's totally acceptable, but the problem was that you were a mistress." Amelia went straight to the point.
Sissi lost her mind. "You were the mistress! I was together with Patrick at first. You took advantage of the chance when I was abroad!"
Sissi's way of thinking was intriguing, to say the least.
All of a sudden, Amelia's gaze moved above Sissi's head and saw that Sawyer had returned. He was standing not far behind Sissi.
Amelia wanted to let Sissi know about him, but Sawyer shook his head.
The corners of Amelia's mouth twitched as she recalled how sinister Sawyer was.
Sissi, who was oblivious to Sawyer's presence, continued to emphasise fiercely, "Amelia, listen. I've been with Patrick for years, so he still loves me the most!" "Why are you still furious over it when you already have Sawyer? Do you still love
Patrick? Then, what does Sawyer mean to you? A back-up?"
On the sofa in the living room.
"Mr. Quartley, I've already talked to you about the details on the phone. You also promised me that you'll terminate the contract..."
The way that Amelia spoke was so seriously and formal that Sawyer raised his eyebrows as he asked in a low voice, "Ms. Amelia, do I look like I'm going back on my words?" "Huh?" Amelia softly let out as if she did not understand the meaning of his words.
Sawyer continued, "If not, you don't need to emphasize it at all."
As her intention had been exposed, Amelia brushed her nose in embarrassment.
Sawyer spoke again, "I can agree to it, but with conditions."
Amelia straightened up. "Please disclose them."
Sawyer turned back and patted Sissi's hand, who had lost focus in massaging, and pulled her instantly out of a daze. "Sissi, I'm worried about Abner being upstairs alone. Can you go up and accompany him?"
Sissi immediately pulled a long face, but she knew that it was not the time to pester as things would get more troublesome if she angered Sawyer. "Okay, dear... I thought the same too. I'll excuse myself, then."
Sissi did not greet Amelia when she left. Amelia wondered if she had done it intentionally.
Amelia knew very well that Sissi should have pinned the blame on Amelia regarding the inappropriate words she exposed a moment earlier.
Amelia thought it was no big deal as there was already resentment between her and Sissi.
