In the next second, Sawyer's phone rang.
He glanced at Amelia and saw that she seemed to have given up resistance, so he picked up the phone.
"Hello? It's me," Sawyer answered.
"Mr. Quartley, our leader is taken hostage by the two men. They ask for a yacht for them to leave safely. What should we do?" The man on the other side of the phone reported.
Sawyer's eyes narrowed as he flaunted his authority, "There are so many of you, and you can't get rid of two of them. Can you even make any contribution?"
"Sorry, sir!" The man then explained in one breath, "But they're sly! They must have used some trick! When we arrived, many of our men claimed that their stomachs hurt badly..."
Sawyer impatiently interrupted, "Enough! I don't need any of your explanation."
"Yes, sir! Sorry, sir!"
When Sawyer raised his hand to rub his tensed brows, he casually looked down at Amelia and found that she was looking at him with pleading eyes.
Amelia quickly clasped her hands together and begged as she gazed at Sawyer, "Sawyer, can you please let them go?"
Sawyer stared at her noncommittally for a moment, then he suddenly spoke to the phone, "Fine. They're insignificant. Just do as they say."
"Yes sir!
After Sawyer hung up the call, he said to Amelia, "Ms. Amelia, I've already agreed to let the two of them leave. Can you finally be at ease now?
Amelia let out a sigh of relief. When she came back to her senses, she found that her clothes was soaked in cold sweat.
"Sawyer, you know you don't have to use such means to exchange for the evidence of your crimes in Florence. Patrick and Owen have never planned to threaten you with it, nor reveal it to the public."
Sawyer let out a cold snort. "Ms. Amelia, do you think of me as a fool? Isn't Patrick using the evidence in threatening me to terminate the contract with you? The evidence is like a metal wire strangling my throat that can take my life at any time, so I have to get it back and destroy it."
"This matter could've been resolved smoothly, but you insist on starting a fight with Patrick again. Sawyer, when will your revenge end? Won't it be better for you to let me go and live happily with Sissi while we stop interfering one another?" Amelia revealed nothing but her true thoughts.
After he sat down on a sofa, Sawyer asked calmly, "Ms. Amelia, are you worried that I'll lose the battle?"
Amelia looked surprised for a second. Why would she worry about him? She was worried about herself!
However.
"To be honest, I feel a little sympathetic to Uncle Quartley and Abner as they will be heartbroken if something happens to you."
"At the mention of that, be it my father or my son, they all have a good impression of you. Even Kay, who isn't interested in women, has fallen for you as if he has a spell cast on him. Sometimes, I wonder if you're some kind of witch."
"Mr. Sawyer speaks too highly of me. All I do is treat everyone with sincerity," Amelia said faintly.
Sawyer's tone immediately changed. "But you've also hurt them, especially Abner and Kay."
"I have no other choice. We're in contrasting positions.”
Amelia's expression was still indifferent, as if
Sawyer's accusation was nothing but a casual joke to her.
Sawyer nodded in agreement. "That's true. Different standpoints do matter. Just like how I wanted to treat you well, yet it ended up this way because you're Patrick's lover."
On the other side, outside the villa.
"Of course." Richard replied in a firm tone.
As soon as they left, commotion grew among the rest of Sawyer's men. "Leopard, let's take action!"
Leopard glanced at them and asked, "What action?"
"To chase after them!" Everyone yelled at once.
But, Leopard stared back at them with indifference motionlessly.
After a while, the rest of them finally realized that something was amiss. "Leopard, didn't you just say that on purpose to confuse them?"
Leopard shook his head. "No, Mr. Quartley has truly ordered to let them go."
"Huh?" Everyone gasped as they could hardly accept it.
Leopard was calm as he continued to command, "Well, go help the injured men and send them to the hospital for treatment.
I still have to make a call to keep Mr. Quartley posted."
In the evening, at the hospital.
Patrick, who had been waiting for Amelia to come to accompany him, had a bad feeling when he noticed only Wayne and Richard had returned.
Patrick quickly shut his laptop, straightened up from the bed and asked, "Where is she?"
Wayne and Richard shot a look at each other nervously. They had prepared themselves on the way here. But in the face of Patrick, they still felt out of breath.
