Amelia observed the man for a while, then stepped forward and asked, "Excuse me, why are you here?"
The man turned around and looked Amelia up and down. Then he smiled and said, "Should you be Madam Ramsay?"
"Yes, I am."
"This is the children bed that Mr. Hopper asked me to send you."
"Oh, I see..."
"Since you're holding the child, shall I help you to take it in?"
Amelia politely and distantly answered, "Thank you, but never mind. The bed doesn't look heavy either. I can push it in on my own."
"Oh, okay then." The man did not insist and left after giving Amelia the receipt.
Amelia looked away from his back, thinking that she should indeed be more vigilant, so as not to leave any chance to those with bad intentions.
"Ya, ya, ya!" At the moment, Sierra's soft voice attracted her attention. The little fellow was struggling to stretch her arms, trying to grab the bed on the ground.
"Well, well, this is bought just for you. No one will snatch it from you."
Amelia put the little fellow's hand back in her arms, and took out the key from her bag to open the door. After opening the fence of the garden, she grabbed the handle of the bed and pushed it in.
In the bedroom.
Looking at the pink baby bed in front of her, Amelia could not help but smile.
She opened the bed curtains and put Sierra, who was constantly moving, into the bed. She found that the size of the bed was just right for the little fellow.
Not only that, there were also pillow, sheet, and blanket inside the bed. She did not have to worry about the preparation at all.
Amelia squatted down and looked at Sierra. "Sierra, do you like the gift from godfather?"
Sierra uttered a "Ya Ha", obviously satisfied.
Amelia felt her really cute so she could not help pinching her small hands. She then said thoughtfully while lying in front of her, "Speaking of which, should you start learning to walk and talk?"
"Ha?" Sierra tilted her head and glanced at her before continuing to play around.
Amelia pondered for a moment as she saw this.
Judging from Sierra's reaction, she should have more or less understood what the adults were saying. It was perhaps because of her congenital condition and her family background, so she had yet to learn how to walk and talk.
After all, as a single woman, it was already very hard for Jessica to run a cafe while taking care of the house daily. As the little fellow was left in the kitchen of the cafe all day long, she must be very lonely.
As she thought so, Amelia's eyes that were looking at Sierra unconsciously turned more gentle.
In the evening.
When Patrick returned home after work, he saw Amelia letting go of Sierra's hand, encouraging her to walk on her own.
"Amy..."
Amelia did not immediately greet him. Instead, she pointed at him and said to Sierra, who was staggering on her feet, "Sierra, godfather is back. Go to him yourself."
Sierra actually walked in the direction of Patrick. However, she failed her first try and fell to the ground.
The little fellow was stunned and then cried out. It seemed to be very painful.
Amelia quickly reached out and touched her little head, muttering, "It seems that I can't be too hasty."
"Are you teaching her to walk?" Patrick approached them and asked.
"That's right."
"Shouldn't this be her mother's responsibility?" Unknowingly, Patrick seemed to have acquiesced himself as her 'Godfather'.
"Since I'm free at the moment." Amelia said as she hugged Sierra, who was still wiping her tears, in her arms like a doll. She continued to show Patrick her efforts for the afternoon. "I've even taught Sierra the word 'mom'. Come on, Sierra, show it to your godfather."
Under Amelia's expectant eyes, the little girl who was sobbing uttered quite clearly, "Mama."
"Look!" Amelia immediately looked proudly at Patrick.
She had spoken so fluently. It seemed that Jessica had already taught her before.
Although he thought so in his heart, Patrick was not a dummy to say it in front of Amelia, who was full of excitement. "Wow, you are so awesome. You've made it in just an afternoon."
Amelia, who was praised, could not help but smile. "I'm going to teach her the word 'dad' next."
Patrick raised his eyebrows. "Is that okay?"
Amelia looked at him strangely. "Is there anything wrong with it?"
Patrick reminded her, "Jessica is still single. Aren't you afraid that you'll cause her trouble if you teach the fellow to call dad?"
Amelia appeared to be shocked as she heard this, "Eh..."
Patrick subconsciously looked at her and asked, "What's wrong?"
Amelia bit her lip and said, "Sorry, I was too focused on teaching Sierra to talk and walk this afternoon. And I've lost attention to the time..."
"What's the big deal?" Patrick did not take it seriously and said, "It's not your job alone to do the cooking. I can do it as well."
"But you have been busy with work for a day after all. So I hope you can have a good rest after you get home."
Then, Amelia asked strangely, "By the way, how do you know that I haven't cooked yet?"
"Because every time I come back from work, I can smell the scent of food when I enter the house, but not today," Patrick answered.
"Sorry." After the self-blame, Amelia stood up from the sofa. She stood on tiptoe and pressed Patrick's shoulders to push him back to his seat. "Wait for a while and dinner will ready soon."
Patrick looked at her figure hurrying to the kitchen, and he put on a wide smile. The feeling of being loved was really fascinating...
Dong!
Patrick was deep in thought when his forehead was hit by a piece of wooden block. He had a moment of stare and realized that it was thrown by Sierra. So he walked over to her and tapped the tip of her nose. "Don't think I won't hit children."
After listening to his words, not only was the little fellow not afraid, she even stretched out her hands to ask for a hug. She said surprisingly, "Mama, Mama!"
Patrick hurriedly stopped her, "You can only call a woman as Mama. While I am a man. Do you get me?"
Sierra paused and seemed to have a moment of thought. She then cried, "Papa..."
Patrick felt a strange feeling from the bottom of his heart as he heard this. He said with a disgusted expression, "Don't call me that. I am not your father."
At most, he was just her godfather, and it was for the sake of Amelia.
"Papa... Papa..." Sierra, however, seemed to have a button on as she continued calling while tugging on Patrick's trouser legs.
During dinner, Amelia noticed the interaction between the little fellow and her lover and asked in surprise, "Mr. Hopper, have you taught Sierra in calling dad when I was cooking?"
Patrick felt helpless as the matter was mentioned, "No. She just suddenly called me that. I've already told her not to."
Amelia could not help laughing and said, "It's natural for kids be close to whoever they see. As you helped her change her pants twice, it's fine for her to call you dad, right?"
After a pause, Amelia looked down and asked, "Do you agree. Sierra?"
