Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1713

"Wait a minute." Granny Hopper stopped Florence and said, "You're too uproarious. Don't rush in. Let Amelia sober up first."

"Granny..." Florence drawled on her sadly. "Am I your granddaughter? Why do you dislike me so much?"

"I doN't dislike you." Granny Hopper patted Florence's hand and said as if she was coaxing a child, "Be good, wash a pear and eat it first. You'll go in after you finish your pear."

In the ward.

When Amelia woke up, Patrick immediately asked gently, "Amy, did you sleep well?"

Amelia had just woken up and was still a little confused. After she heard Patrick's voice, she was taken aback for a moment, then slowly blinked her eyes. After confirming that the person in front of her was neither a dream nor an illusion, she said, "Mr. Hopper, I slept well. What about you? Were guarding me all this while? Did you have a rest?"

Patrick lied, "When you were asleep, I htookad a nap on the sofa. I just woke up too."

Amelia threw a glance at the sofa by the window and said distressedly, "You should go home for a rest. The sofa here is too small."

"It's fine. I want to stay here to look after you." Patrick could only be rest assured when he put her in a place where he could see her at any time.

Amelia adjusted her posture and looked at Patrick with a calm expression as she said, "But Mr. Hopper, there are dark circles and stubble on you. It affects your handsome looks."

At that, Patrick raised his eyebrows and grabbed Amelia's hand. Then, he rubbed her hand on his stubble as revenge.

Amelia felt itchy in the back of her hand and could not help chuckling. "Patrick, you're so childish...”

"Why did talk bad about my looks then?" Patrick continued to play with Amelia's hand and stared at her.

"I was kidding. Cut it out..." Amelia begged when she was Lacking.

Patrick let go of her and touch her forehead instead. When he found that her temperature was about the same as before she fell asleep, he immediately stopped fooling around and said with a serious expression, "Amy, I'll go check if the porridge is here. Wait for me."

Amelia nodded. Her lovely look caused Patrick to kiss her on the forehead before he walked away.

Amelia looked at his back with a relieved smile.

Outside the ward.

Florence, who was sitting on a chair eating a pear, heard the sound of the door opening. She looked up and saw Patrick walking out.

"Patrick!" She shouted and waved the juicy pear in her hand. "Can you ask Amelia if she wants some pears?"

It was rare for Patrick not to tease her. Instead, he patted Florence's head and replied, "I was going to let Amy have some antipyretics after the porridge. Your pear can come after that."

"Okay," Florence answered, then turned to Granny Hopper. "Granny, didn't the servants at home send over porridge? Let Amelia eat it while it's still warm."

"Okay." Granny Hopper nodded and said kindly to Alice, who was eager to see Amelia, "Alice, let's go in."

"Okay." Alice had long been wanting to go in to see Amelia. Since Amelia's return, Alice had only been with her face to face for less than an hour.

When the group entered the ward one after another, Amelia had already straightened up in the bed so that it was easier to talk to them.

Granny Hopper placed the thermos on the bedside table and said, "Amelia, let's eat the porridge first and take the medicine later."

"Okay, granny." Amelia was embarrassed to let others feed her, so she said, "I'll do it myself."

"No, don't. Let Pat... I mean, let Alice feed you." When Granny Hopper remembered the look in Alice's gaze from just now, she changed her mind.

Alice did not expect Granny Hopper to mention her and could not help feeling flattered. After all, everyone here wanted to be close to Amelia, but her identity as a stepmother was quite awkward.

"Aunt Alice." Amelia followed through with Granny Hopper and looked at Alice as she asked with a sweet smile, "Can you feed me, please?"

"Sure!" Alice nodded vigorously.

Although Amelia said that she wanted to have plain porridge, the chef made a few extra side dishes, which were enough for her to eat with the porridge.

Amelia was surrounded by the group in the centre of the room. When she bowed her head to eat the warm porridge that Alice fed her, Amelia felt warm inside.

She felt that she was fine despite the fever.

After finishing the last mouthful of porridge, Amelia let Patrick wipe her mouth with a tissue.

Alice looked at the bottom of the thermos and exclaimed with satisfaction, "You're so good, Amelia! You ate all the porridge. Your fever will recede quickly."

Amelia answered, "That's because this is homecooked and fed to me by Aunt Alice. I've never had such delicious porridge before."

As she spoke, Patrick handed her a few antipyretics and a glass of water. "Amy, take the antipyretics."

"How did things turn out this way?" Alice muttered under her breath. She clearly did not want Amelia to have anything to do with such a dangerous person like Sawyer.

"So, this explains why Sawyer has bought so many branded items for you. Because you're his sister?" Florence questioned thoughtfully.

"Florence, if you think that way, then you've fallen into Sawyer's trap. He was good to me not because I'm his sister but because I'm Patrick's wife. He wanted to use me to strike a blow at Patrick," Amelia elaborated.

Florence seethed as she heard that, "He's awful! He even makes use of his own sister!"

Amelia shook her head. "I have a blood relationship with him, but we've never lived together for the past twenty or so years. What's more, I'm not his biological sister, but an illegitimate daughter of Uncle Quartley. Do you think he truly cares about me as his sister?"

Florence was taken aback once again. She then drawled on slowly, "You're right."

In the end, Florence added, "Amelia, I feel so bad for you. You've finally met your relatives, but he's horrible!"

Amelia replied faintly, "I would rather not have such a family."

Florence nodded and continued, "Yea! It's enough for you to have us. Let Sawyer f*ck himself!"

"Other than Sawyer Quartley, the rest of the Home of Quartley isn't that bad." Just then, Gramps Hopper interjected, "Have you ever thought about reconciling with Ryan?"

Amelia was stunned for a moment before she shook her head slightly. "I think it's ideal to maintain the current relationship with Uncle Quartley."

"Are you willing to do that? Your biological father is close at hand, but you can only call him 'uncle'."

Amelia's chest was stuffed by Gramps Hopper's question, and she looked a little lonely.

At the sight of this, Patrick's heart ached. He could not help but say to Gramps Hopper, "Granmos, we should respect Amy's decision on this matter. Don't force her!"

However, Gramps Hopper acted like he did not hear what Patrick said. He went on, "Gramps can help you, Amelia."

Everyone present knew that as long as Gramps Hopper spoke, Ryan would have to acknowledge Amelia as his daughter.

However, judging from Ryan's personality and his preference for Amelia, he probably had long wanted to acknowledge her as his daughter.

But Amelia shook her head and insisted, "Gramps, I appreciate your kindness, but my identity will only bring contradiction to Uncle Quartley and his wife. I don't want to destroy their happy family. Forget it."
