Rachel squatted on the floor to unpack her luggage. She pulled out her laptop and turned to look at Jerry and Yale.
“You two should go back to your rooms. I can take care of things here. Let’s meet downstairs at the restaurant later.”
Yale and Jerry exchanged glances.
“Alright,” Yale said.
Jerry walked out, but still looked back at Rachel with concern. “Rachel, if you need any help, just say
the word.”
“Yeah. Don’t worry.” Rachel waved at them.
Since it was peak tourist season, rooms were in short supply, so Jerry and Yale had been put in the
same room.
Rachel quickly tidied up, then opened her laptop to do some searching. That was when she found out
the doctor’s name was Elias.
His career had been very impressive. Whether abroad or at home, he was well–known. Many hospitals had tried to hire him with high salaries, but he always refused.
But everything changed after one surgery years ago. Overnight, his reputation was ruined. Even private hospitals no longer wanted him.
Elias sank into despair. He wasted away at home, consumed by guilt. Over time, he developed severe
anxiety.
His father had passed away when he was very young, leaving only his mother by his side.
After reading through it, Rachel couldn’t help but feel sorry for Elias.
That was what the medical profession was like. It could lift you, put you in the spotlight, and just as quickly knock you down, turning you into a target for scorn. That meant getting a doctor who had been broken and withdrawn for years to pick up a scalpel again would be extremely difficult.
No wonder Mark had asked her to investigate his background first.
Rachel braced her hands on the table as the weight of it all suddenly crashed down on her.
But she had no way out now. She had to bring this doctor back–it was Cecilia’s only chance.
After straightening up and grabbing her laptop, she was about to meet Yale and Jerry downstairs

Rachel propped her phone on the napkin holder at the table, then lowered her head to look through
the menu.
“Sorry, we just got here. I didn’t have time to tell you.”
“It’s fine. Just be careful staying in a hotel room by yourself. Make sure you eat. Yes, you need to find the doctor, but don’t forget meals for the sake of work. I’ll have Yale keep an eye on you.”
Tyler immediately launched into a string of reminders.
“And I checked the weather there. It might get cold at night. Remember to layer up.
