Chapter 850
“How is she now?” Jonathan asked, his mind filled with nothing but Teresa.
“She’s fine now. Honestly, the doctor said she needs to get some rest,” Irene replied.
Jonathan’s furrowed brow relaxed a little. “Which floor and room is she in?” he asked.
Irene gave him the room number, and Jonathan couldn’t wait and hurried off right away.
“Wait,” Irene called out, grabbing his arm. “How could you not tell the family she was pregnant? This is such a big deal, and you kept it from
us.”
“Well, you know now, don’t you?” Jonathan answered as he brushed off Irene’s hand. He didn’t have time for this. The elevator was too slow,
so he dashed straight for the stairs.
Inside the room, the doctor who had checked on Teresa reminded her to take care and was about to leave. Suddenly, the door slammed
open.
Panting from the climb, Jonathan burst in, hair tousled and eyes filled with worry as they landed on Teresa in bed. Her pale face made his heart sink. He rushed to her and asked, “What happened? Did something happen again?”
“I’m fine,” Teresa said.
“Fine?” Jonathan asked, his voice tight with frustration, feeling as if he were punching at cotton. “If you’re fine, then why are you in the hospital?”
He turned to the doctor, his voice tense. “I’m Teresa’s husband. Can you tell me what’s going on with her?”
The doctor gave Jonathan a quick rundown. Hearing Teresa had worn a waist binder and risked the baby, he stared at her, stunned and frowning, unable to understand why. Usually calm, he now struggled to stay composed.
The doctor added, “Your wife and the baby aren’t in immediate danger, but there’s a high risk of premature birth. She needs to stay in the hospital for observation.”
But since there were no available beds, Teresa could only stay in a small single room.
Jonathan’s brow furrowed even tighter. “Got it,” he replied. Then he pulled out his phone and made a call right away.
“Mr. Robert, it’s Jonathan. I need the best VIP room ready right away. My wife’s nearly seven months pregnant. She’s already here and needs a quiet place to rest.”
Jonathan ended the call and turned to Teresa. “I’m taking you to the best gynecological hospital in Nareigh. We’ll talk more on the way,” he said firmly.
Without another word, he scooped her up in his arms and strode out of the hospital room.
As he walked, Jonathan couldn’t stop replaying the conversation he’d overheard on the phone.
“If that baby were Jonathan’s, he would’ve told his family. No way he’d keep it a secret.”
“I was the one who told him not to say anything. You can come after me all you want, but I won’t ever give you a chance to hurt my baby.”
“You’re being ridiculous. Why would I ever hurt Jonathan’s child?”
