“Alright, come back to earth!”
Abriella snapped her fingers right in front of Emmy, yanking her out of her swirling thoughts.
“Let’s get moving. Take a look around and see what’s missing in your new place. I’ll keep track.”
Emmy took a deep breath, willing her emotions down, and nodded. She made a point to walk through every room, checking carefully.
Now that the two large units had been combined, the apartment felt massive—open, bright, and exactly her style. The creamy, minimalist vibe was perfect. All the hard renovations were done; only the furniture and finishing touches were left.
Abriella followed close behind, phone in hand, ready to type up a list every time Emmy mentioned something she needed.
Watching Abriella work so efficiently, Emmy finally realized why her friend had been so busy lately. Not only was Abriella handling Steve’s assistant work, but she was also spending most of her time here, overseeing the renovations.
A thought struck Emmy, making her pause mid-step. She turned to Abriella, eyes wide.
“Wait, Abriella. That apartment you got downstairs… Don’t tell me my husband gave that to you?”
Abriella grinned, delighted. “Busted! But I didn’t spend a dime. The developer gave it to me.”
She leaned in, lowering her voice. “One time, the developer’s whole family got trapped during a fire at their mansion. Your husband led the rescue team that saved them all.”
“So, when my cousin wanted to buy the whole floor here, the developer insisted on gifting him another unit. He tried to say no, but he didn’t have the time or energy to manage the renovations, so he put me in charge. As a thank you, the developer gave me the apartment downstairs.”
Thinking back, no one could imagine how happy Abriella had been.
She was nothing like Emmy. Even with the Sullivan name, she didn’t own any property or shares—just a monthly allowance from her family. They wanted her to act like some privileged heiress, but never actually gave her anything solid.
So after graduation, she’d just stayed home, living off her parents. If they wanted to keep her around forever, she’d let them.
But lately, watching Emmy pull off miracles—bringing Forward Technology back from the edge and even securing shares in Starlight Corporation—Abriella realized she couldn’t just coast forever.
