Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 359

Emmy leaned against the railing, watching the balcony outside Evelina’s hospital room, lost in her thoughts.

Out of nowhere, a big hand reached over and gently turned her face, making her look straight at him.

James leaned in, his deep eyes locking on hers. “What are you thinking about?”

She decided to just say it. “I need a strand of Evelina’s hair. Do you have any ideas?”

James didn’t even flinch.

“There’s probably some in the bathroom. I’ll get someone to call her away, then I’ll go in and look for it.”

He said it so calmly, like he was offering to get her a glass of water. As he turned to leave, Emmy instinctively grabbed his solid forearm.

“Aren’t you going to ask why I even need her hair?”

He looked back at her, his eyes soft, his voice totally sure. “If you need it, you have your reasons. Just wait here.”

Then he slipped out of sight.

Emmy stood there for a moment, half amused, half helpless, but this wave of warmth filled her chest, leaving her feeling lighter than air.

Being trusted like that, having someone step up for you without hesitation or questions—she couldn’t help it. Right now, James had never looked more attractive.

She bit back a smile and headed out after him.

Meanwhile, Dean had just arrived at Evelina’s hospital room.

Evelina was almost fully recovered, but Claudia insisted she stay a little longer.

Dean, apparently impatient, showed up with a beautifully wrapped box.

Evelina took it, opened it, and her eyes instantly lit up.

“This is Letter from the Other Side? The number one VR game right now?”

She turned the sleek, futuristic headset over in her hands, her excitement impossible to hide. “Dean, thank you! This must have cost a fortune.”

She’d been following the heated VR rivalry between Sparrow Group and Nelson Corporation. Letter from the Other Side had shot to the top of the charts in half a day, and she’d been dying to try it.

But it was insanely expensive—the headset alone was over a hundred grand, and with the neural link, it was two or three times that. She’d planned to try it after getting discharged, never imagining Dean would buy it for her.

So she still mattered to him, after all.
