Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 495

The living room was quiet, just Emmy and her mom sitting together.

“Mom,” Emmy said softly, “please don’t tell James about the baby yet.”

Teresa looked at her, clearly confused. “Why not? He’s the father. This is huge—how could you not tell him?”

Emmy gave a small, awkward smile. “He already knows.”

“What?” Teresa’s eyes widened. “If he knows, why hasn’t he told you?”

“I wish I knew,” Emmy said, looking down and gently placing her hand on her stomach. “I want to wait for him to bring it up himself.”

Teresa studied Emmy’s stubborn profile and let out a quiet sigh, deciding not to push anymore.

“All right. This is between you and him. I won’t meddle.”

She reached over and took Emmy’s hand.

“Emmy, you’re not just taking care of yourself now. Dr. Stamper said you’re three months in, but things are still a bit unstable. You have to be extra careful, okay?”

“Soon, you should have James take you to the hospital to set up the baby’s records.”

As Teresa talked, a soft smile spread across her face.

“When I was pregnant with you, I did so many silly things.”

“One time, it was three in the morning and I suddenly had this crazy craving for that cold jelly dessert from the shop on the south side. I just couldn’t help it—I made your grandpa go out and buy it.”

“And there was this one time, I saw a pet commercial on TV and ended up hugging a pillow, crying for an hour. No one could calm me down.”

“I was so superstitious back then, too. Every day, I’d talk to my belly and go over math problems, hoping you’d grow up to be a scientist.”

“You have no idea—when you first started kicking, I thought I’d eaten something bad and got scared out of my mind.”

“Oh, and when I was five months along, I bought you these adorable little tiger shoes, but when you were born your feet were way too big and you never wore them, not even once.”

Teresa kept reminiscing, her eyes sparkling with the memories.

Emmy just listened quietly, feeling the cold mess inside her slowly start to melt away under her mom’s warmth.

“Anyway,” Teresa said, pulling herself back to the present and looking serious, “there are some rules you have to follow.”

“First, no more high heels. If you fall, it could be really bad.”

“Second, stay away from anything raw, spicy, or too cold. No more coffee or strong tea either.”
