Carlisle had commented: *Who's missing? Emma? You never invited her to a single one of our reunions before.*
*My thoughts exactly,* Emma thought.
Renee, as if reading her mind, had replied to Carlisle: *My thoughts exactly!*
The scandals involving her and Theodore had been all over the news. Their old classmates were well aware of what had happened, and their comments reflected their disapproval.
*What's the point of saying this now?*
*Theodore, I never knew you were so two-faced!*
*I hope Emma never looks back!*
She scrolled through the names, recognizing some of her old dorm mates and even a few boys whose faces she could barely recall. She didn't find their comments intrusive. Instead, she felt a surprising warmth. She had thought that after all these years of isolating herself, they had all forgotten her.
Her phone buzzed. It was a message from Renee.
Renee: *Are you doing okay over there?*
Emma: *Everything's great! Don't worry about me.*
Renee: *Good. We'll get together when you're back.*
Emma: *Sounds good.*
