Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 79

Chapter 79

Honestly, there was never any need for all this.

Marriage is a choice made by two people. Back then, she’d chosen the wrong person

too

Sighing? You finish a call with him and you sigh?Theodore jabbed a finger at her phone. Did you forget whose name is on your marriage certificate?

Emma looked at him, weary. Theodore, I’ve never been the one to forget.

His brows drew together, then he let out a cold, mirthless laugh. So what is this, then? Putting on a show for me? What’s your goal? Trying to make me jealous so I’ll ditch Cici and come running back to you, clinging to your side? You think you can bait me into reacting?

Emma rolled her eyes. Believe whatever you want.

She slid under the covers, set her phone aside, and settled in, ready to sleep.

Get up. You’re not sleeping.Theodore yanked the blanket off her.

Theodore, for God’s sake, just go to sleep! I’m not as shameless as you. I was only talking with Ms. Remington and her family.Emma could barely believe how unreasonable he was acting.

Theodore’s smile turned crueler. Oh? Are you trying to tell me you’re already getting cozy with his family?

He grabbed her phone and held it up to her face to unlock it.

What are you doing? Give that back! She lunged to snatch it away.

He was focused on her contacts, but she managed to wrestle it back.

Hand it over! Delete Sebastian’s number! His voice was cold and commanding. As long as you’re living off my money, you’re not out of my reach.

Emma stuffed her phone under the pillow.

You-!Theodore was furious now. He leaned down, trying to pry it from her grasp. All this disobedience for another man?

Emma pressed down on the phone, refusing to give in.

For a few seconds, they were at a total impasse.

Finally, Theodore’s anger boiled over. He gave up on the phone, standing at the foot of the bed and staring at her, his eyes dark and strangea look Emma had never seen

before.

She pulled the blanket tighter around herself, instinctively. But the next moment, Theodore grabbed both her and the blanket, hauling her up.

He flipped her over, pinning her down with his weight.

Theodore, don’t do this again! She struggled, trapped beneath him, unable to move.

Losing it?His hand slipped under her nightshirt, his eyes burning with something wild. Didn’t I warn you today? I’ll show you just how much of a bastard I can be.

This wasn’t the first time Theodore had lost control like this.

She couldn’t help but thinkif this had happened before their fifth anniversary, would she have felt thrilled? Excited?

But right now, with her trip just ahead, the last thing Emma wanted was any real change in their relationship. Only one name could stop him now.

Theodore! I’m not Cecilia! Let me go!She couldn’t break freehis grip was cruel, digging into her skin, and the only thing she felt was pain. Searing, burning pain.

But he didn’t stop. If anything, he grew rougher, marking her skin as he pressed his feverish breath against her ear, his voice low and terrifying, If I can’t see your face, I might as well pretend you’re Cici.

Theodore, what’s wrong with you?Emma had never felt such humiliation. He was using her as a standin for Cecilia.

She’d long since told herself she wouldn’t care that he’d kept Cecilia in his heart for five years. But thisshe couldn’t bear him using her like this, as if she were Cecilia.

Theodore! You’re despicable!she cried out.
