Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 115

He always felt a certain tenderness toward Vivienne, and he loved to sing her praises to everyone around him, never missing a chance to boast about her talent.

This time, noticing that Vivienne hadn't responded to the demo—maybe because she was caught up with the recording—he realized he actually had the answer himself. So, he thought he'd bring it up during the livestream, hoping to ask her directly.

There was still plenty of time left before the livestream ended.

Online chatter about the demo had already started to brew, and the momentum behind "Yesterday Once More" was strong. It was starting to rival "Faint Whispers" for attention.

He was convinced Vivienne was the best, and he was determined to make "Faint Whispers" the highlight of the night. All he needed was for Vivienne to confirm a detail about the demo live on air; that would be enough to ignite a frenzy and easily overshadow "Yesterday Once More."

But someone caught wind of his intentions. Before he could make his move, he was politely "invited" into a separate room, eliminating his chance to ask anything.

"You just wait!" he spat out as he stormed off, frustration simmering beneath his words.

He was unwavering in his support for Vivienne—he'd never give up. He was going to find another opportunity to bring up the demo, no matter what.

...

At the police station.

Detective Cynthia was leading her team through the latest developments in the car accident investigation. The room buzzed with activity as evidence and theories were discussed in rapid succession.

A colleague walked in, holding a fresh file.

"Cynthia, here's the latest," he said, handing her the report.

She glanced down—it was about the charity gala.

Cynthia's brow furrowed as she skimmed the contents.

Her colleague watched her reading, then added, "The suspicion around these two is growing. Even though Tyler has already started divorce proceedings with Emilia, it's not finalized. Yet they keep provoking her, over and over. Aren't they worried she'll back out at the last minute?"

He wasn't wrong.

During the mandatory cooling-off period, either party could withdraw the divorce at any time.

Were they really not worried Emilia might act out of spite and refuse to go through with it?

Or had they already thought of everything?

Cynthia mulled it over, then glanced at the list of action plans on her laptop.

Everything was exactly to his taste.

"Alright," Tyler acknowledged, then headed for a shower.

By the time he emerged, Jensen and the housekeepers had gone.

He stood alone in the living room, suddenly struck by how empty—how eerily silent—the place felt.

No one was there to look back at him and laugh, calling out, "Tye." No one bustled about, and there was no gentle rustle of pages from someone reading on the sofa.

It was utterly still.

Utterly empty.

He picked up his phone and opened his message thread with Emilia.

Still nothing. No new messages.

So quiet, he wondered if his phone was broken.

Reading History

No history.
