Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 116

Tyler walked over to where he kept the safe.

He unlocked it and took out the tanzanite stone nestled inside.

Under the lamp's glow, the gem shimmered with a deep, clear light.

After a moment's hesitation, he snapped a photo of it, then opened his chat with Emilia.

He typed: [The tanzanite you liked.]

But after a brief pause, he deleted the message.

She'd wanted to buy that tanzanite because if she got pregnant in March, the baby would be due in late December. Tanzanite would be the birthstone—something special for their child.

But suddenly he remembered: there was no child.

Everything from that night came rushing back—her laughter, her kisses, the small birthmark just above her heart, the warmth of her skin, and the way she'd pushed him away, crying, begging him to stop.

Tyler set down his phone and dropped onto the couch, staring up at the pale ceiling.

What was she doing now?

With all the rumors swirling online, she must have seen them by now.

Why hadn't she reached out?

Was she really trying to be mature, keeping her distance and waiting out these six months in silence? Or… was this her way of lashing out, of punishing him in her own quiet way?

He glanced at his phone, lips pressed in a tight line.

He didn't know how long he sat there.

Eventually, he picked up his phone again and deleted the photo of the tanzanite.

Meanwhile, at the hospital.

Nothing Emilia said seemed to help.

So she let Joyce fuss over her, hoping that it might ease her conscience, even if just a little.

"You're really too thin now. It makes my heart ache just looking at you," Joyce said, her voice gentle but worried. "You have to eat more—get your strength back."

Emilia nodded and tried a bite, offering a smile.

It tasted wonderful.

"By the way, Joyce, I've been meaning to ask—where do you and Felix find all this food?" Emilia asked, curiosity getting the better of her. "I tried asking Felix last time, but he dodged the question. Did he just forget, or is it some big secret?"

Joyce grinned at her. "Do you like it?"

Emilia nodded, not hiding her praise. "Joyce, we've grown up together, and we've been to all the best restaurants in the city, but lately, the food you and Felix bring me is just on another level. Those fancy places have nothing on this."

Joyce just chuckled, eyes twinkling. "As long as you like it, that's all that matters." But she offered no explanation.
