Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 136

The matriarch had gone to her husband's room to look after him.

Emilia and Tyler made their way together toward the dining hall.

This time, Emilia had come to explain the situation about the child to the old patriarch. After all, she was still Tyler's wife in name—and, legally, on paper as well. The sudden appearance of a child needed a proper explanation.

But she hadn't even found the opportunity to speak yet.

Right now, the old man was in no state to listen to anything she had to say.

She'd have to wait. Once Parker had recovered a little and sought them out, then she could finally open up.

The shuttle bus glided quietly in the direction of the restaurant.

Emilia and Tyler sat side by side, but a noticeable distance separated them. Neither said a word; the silence between them was only broken by the moonlight glimmering on the lake outside.

Lunar Manor was an estate dotted with several villas. The patriarch had his own main house, and Tyler's uncles, as well as Tyler's generation, each had their own place nearby.

Normally, if it was just family, everyone dined in their own villas. But for larger family gatherings, or when entertaining guests, they would choose the restaurant built on the lake at the heart of the estate.

Tonight's dinner was being held at that lakeside restaurant.

News had spread that both Tyler and Emilia were back, and with the rumors online about Emilia's child, it was no wonder that tonight's gathering drew a crowd. After all, if Tyler truly had an heir, it could change the entire dynamic of the Erickson family's business empire.

The shuttle stopped. Tyler got out first and offered his hand to Emilia to help her down.

She glanced at his outstretched palm but ignored it, stepping out of the vehicle on her own and standing upright.

The butler drove the shuttle away to park, while Emilia followed Tyler into the striking, three-story building—a sleek structure of glass and steel with clean, modern lines.

But she hadn't gone more than a couple of steps when Chloe called out, "Emilia!"

Before Emilia could answer, Tyler frowned slightly and corrected her, "It's sister-in-law."

Emilia didn't bother with the correction—she wouldn't be carrying the title much longer, anyway.

"My apologies—sister-in-law," Chloe amended quickly. "Actually, there's something I wanted to ask you."

Emilia was surprised. Chloe had always been proud and aloof, barely acknowledging her before she went off to study in Cerulion. Why was she seeking her out now?

"What is it?" Emilia asked, pausing.

Chloe glanced at Tyler, then smiled mischievously. "There's a bit of a legend at Falcrest University. It's said that for years, a certain Cerulion consortium held the exclusive rights to a cutting-edge technology—one with a unique core barrier, unmatched anywhere in the world. But a few years ago, the Erickson Group broke through that technological barrier. Now, the market's split in two: our Erickson Group and that consortium each dominate half the field, both at home and abroad."
