Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 139

She had expected Tyler to press her with questions as well, but to her surprise, he shut the others down instead.

"We'll give everyone a detailed explanation after this," he said, leaving little room for argument.

With him having spoken, no one else dared to ask further. At most, they could only try to probe indirectly.

Emilia glanced sideways at Tyler, who was ladling soup into her bowl. His face remained calm and unreadable, as if nothing could disturb him.

That was when she understood.

The Erickson family might be under Tyler's control, but beneath the surface, there was no shortage of rivalry and hidden agendas. For now, though, they were still married in the eyes of everyone here, and in moments like this, he would stand by her.

And then there was what Chloe had just brought up... the child.

She'd already taken off her coat since arriving in the dining room.

Tyler looked at Emilia, who wore long sleeves and trousers. Even though the cut of her clothes hid her figure, it was obvious she'd lost weight.

And she was always cold.

He placed the bowl of hot soup in front of her. "Eat a little more."

Dinner passed quickly.

Nolan tried to dig for information in every way he could, but came up empty-handed.

The same went for everyone else.

Suddenly, Tyler's phone buzzed. The caller ID showed it was his grandfather.

He excused himself and stepped away to take the call.

Just then, Chloe approached Emilia again.

Chloe picked up a glass of white wine from a passing waiter's tray and offered it to Emilia.

"Won't you have a drink with me?" Chloe asked.

Emilia didn't say anything, simply took the glass, sniffed it—definitely a fine wine.

She took a delicate sip.

"Try it again. I brought this back from Cerulion," Chloe said, her words layered with meaning. "It's from my private collection. Very expensive."

She added, "And it means a lot to me."
